If you want to see Rutger Hauer in a very different role try and find a film called Soldier of Orange. It's in Dutch, about the Dutch resistance in WWII. Excellent.

I worked with Rutger on a film here in Reno - Blind Fury - which we called Blond Furry. Actually got to direct him for a scene in the cable car at Squaw, ate lunch with him and went out and partied with the cast.

That's funny. I watched that car flip scene get filmed. The guy driving the green car is Rick Overton and he's actually a funny motherfucker who did stand up. I got him a stage to do his act and Rutger and everyone came and it was awesome. I never thought much of the comedy twist they put in the movie, though. Tex Cobb was also in it and he was a crazy mofo. We had fun.
