Don’t cruise, but did cruise Alaska for our honeymoon.
Smuggle a bottle of Grey Goose on board and kept asking for cranberry juice delivered to our room. Large plastic tumblers and ice and we rarely bought a drink unless we wanted some beer. A glass of wine was included with our sit down meals, so we were pretty all good.
A few good land side excursions, inside passage, and glacier bay made it not the worse thing. Still remember sipping on my grey goose and cranberry in a hot tub with my wife, watching glaciers calve, and the hordes hanging out at the railings. Has the hot tub to ourselves for an hour plus before a few others saw us and clued in.
I would not want to do that again, especially with kids. Definitely would not do a tropical cruise.
My sister and her family fucking love cruises, but they have shitty taste and don’t like to do things other than play and watch sports. So sitting around with nothing to do is bliss to them.

Alaska State Ferry up the Inside Passage from Bellingham is the only "cruise" I will ever need. Camp on deck in your tent, bring a cooler with food and drink. Get off wherever you want and stay as long as you want, do some shit, then buy a ticket and get back on. Fuck those big ugly ass cruise ships. I have no desire whatsoever to be trapped aboard one of those things with a bunch of lazy porkers. Not gonna happen.

youre reading comprehension kinda lacks. That link is to Carnival. I dont know what the fuck they promote in regards to tossing crap into the ocean. ROYAL CARIBBEAN however has a campaign all over their ships for it. Don't know that little signs make a difference but hey.

we brought booze. dont even have to "sneak" it as each adult passenger is allowed 1 bottle. never opened it. Free mixer choices were, water, iced tea (unsweetened) and lemonade. At breakfast you could score some OJ, but only at breakfast.
We did bring a bottle of wine to one of the dinners though.

What I have come to understand is that when you are on vacation, signs don't apply to you unless they are of some kind of benefit.
But I digress.

Just got off the Adventure of the Seas this morning. Boarded last Saturday in Bayonne NJ. Caribbean cruise in July? Yeah, fuck that. We went North, stopped in Bar Harbor, Saint John New Brunswick, and Halifax NS.
Same gig, Mother in law pays for 16 of us to go somewhere every 2 years. Our fifth cruise, I knew enough to get the drinks package, my 22yo as well. The 22yo went big the first day, discovered he liked long island iced teas. His consumption slowed down a lot after that.
Adventure is one of Royals smaller ships, 3800 passengers and 1200 crew. We were the only ship in at every port stop. Plenty of stuff to do onboard, kiddies had fun in pools, hot tubs, slides, mini golf. Buffet food at lunch and dinner is kinda marginal, lotta starchy crap. Main dining food is top notch with service to match.
Never had been to any of the stops before, toured Acadia at Bar Harbor, walked about the town. Touristy old money. Saint John wasn’t too spectacular, I walked around with the two youngest while older and wife tried to find recreational to no avail. Halifax I dug, state run dispensary that was readily pointed out on the map by the 70 something woman at the info booth. Walked a lotta miles, cool city that seems to be bustling. Scored a few pre rolls and an erl spray bottle at the dispensary. These were consumed at various spots recommended by the budtender, super friendly people in Halifax.
We usually get a balcony, but the floor to ceiling windows were cool.
Woke up at 5 today and watched us come back under the Verrazano Narrows.
You should give it another try, on a smaller ship, with alcohol, better ports, and no worries.
Just to add, the PIC UPLOADER SUCKS!!!!!!

Mrs. ThreeRidges and I went to Grand Cayman two years ago, not on a cruise, and did a bunch of cool off site activities—hotel staff was super helpful in scheduling certain things when ships were not there, to avoid the busses of tourons. It amazing what happens when you dump two or three big ships of people into a small town.

I did an eastern Med cruise for my engagement, and in the dead of summer it was a good way to see some islands without dragging suitcases around in the heat.

I did a couple of cruises, had a great time on both. Its like a floating hotel, and your room has the best ocean view ever and the crews only job is to make sure your happy as fuck
Views of 360 degree horizon = mind blown, especially when you smuggle THC on board. Food is great and you can eat whatever you want. Hmm I can't decide between the lobster, steak or chicken. Bring me all 3 boy
Smuggled a bottle of Ketel one on like someone else and drank mostly for free. Saw some great shows at night, had fun in the casinos, and always found some chill, low key spots to relax, read a book, and/or zone out at the never ending horizon during the day. Shot trap off the back of the ship, yes that is a thing, and yes its just as awesome as it sounds. When you get to the town, the ship is just your hotel, but (like I said) with a titty-balling view. Stay away from the "excursions" and find your own fun shit to do/see in town, it aint that hard. Stay away from the top deck unless you want to people watch, which often times is fun as fuck on a cruise ship. (Think "people of wal-mart" combined with "cops"). Fuck no I never went in the pool!

Obviously they all bought the drinks package. Freakin' hate clowns.
heavy amounts of alcohol contributed to violence
Now see... this wouldn't have happened in America:
The passenger's attire apparently upset some of the guests, Gaisford said.
"One witness, part of a group involved in the trouble, explained to staff that things kicked off when another passenger appeared dressed as a clown," Gaisford said.
"This upset one of their party because they'd specifically booked a cruise with no fancy dress. It led to a violent confrontation."
In the United Kingdom, fancy dress means wearing a costume.
"There was blood everywhere," Gaisford wrote. "Passengers used furniture and plates as weapons. Witnesses told me they were so frightened they had to hide as family groups fought," Gaisford added.“When you see something that is not right, not just, not fair, you have a moral obligation to say something. To do something." Rep. John Lewis
