    Dogs peeing on grass

Is it wrong to let your dog pee on a neighbor's grass? I know urine can kill grass, but in my experience it's only when it happens alot in the same place, like in your own fenced yard where your dog hangs out. But I figured occasional dog pee is not a problem.

But today, I was walking my dog and she peed on a neighbors lawn near the sidewalk (I had her on a leash). A person who was not the homeowner was walking by and gave me a hard time for allowing that. Waddyathink? I ran into a friend on the walk who has a dog and he said basically what I thought- it's a problem in his back yard from his own dog but tons of dogs pee in his front yard (like all of our yards) and it is not problem (I have no lawn these days so it's been a few years since I have thought about my own lawn in this way).

Some people have "no dogs on lawn" signs and I respect that. But if they don't, is it bad to allow your dog to do this?

Btw I looked it up and a female's pee probably isn't significantly worse that a male's, it's mostly about the concentrated nitrogen. Females sometimes pee in one place more than male dogs do but on a walk mine at least likes to spread it around as much as a male does.

If you feel like getting all science-y you can explain all that about nitrogen being a fertilizer and that it's only too much when it's too often. Or you can just keep on walking and not feel bad as long as the dog isn't peeing in the same place repeatedly.

After being confronted, just say 'bad dog!' and keep on walking.

I didn't think of that. I was gonna say to follow up with "man, he just doesn't listen' and then shrug.

I suppose that would probably work. Stabbing pretty much always works though.

Depends on how many hits of acid I'm on though, might not want to take it that far.

One of my dogs would not piss or poop on concrete. Was a real pain in the ass when I visited my parents in Manhattan.

If there is no sign, and the dog isn't going in the same spot, no big deal IMO.

It depends on the grass for me. I let my dog piss in the grass that is already dead, or patched or full of weeds.

The houses with meticulous lawn care and perfect grass I don’t let him pee on. As a homeowner that tries to keep my grass nice I get it.

My dog’s piss will kill grass wherever he unloads it.

The strip of grass between the sidewalk and the street is fair game in most spots unless it’s a super meticulous lawn.

My SIL had a dog that used to lift his leg and piss on other dogs when he met them. I refused to take that dog anywhere.

Wait, you all think its cool to have your dogs go onto other people's property and piss? Are we just talking that little grassy median between sidewalk and street, or actual fucking yard?

I think they mean just adjacent to the sidewalk, but on the house side.

The parking strip is fair game.

It’s not only nitrogen but also urea that contains a lot of salt. Salt builds up over time.

Home owner should spray paint sidewalk with "no peeing" notice.

Buddys blue healer was a pissing machine. Camped at the bike park campground he managed to piss on every vehicles tires atleast once. Sitting in our lawn chairs having morning coffee the next day doggo bolts for the 2 hot french chics tent next to us and firehosed one corner real good. Pretty much toss that tent now, every other dog will be on that . They werent impressed and gave us a mean stink eye. We were just waking up and on cue similtaneously we all pointed at the doggo's owner and just carried on with coffee. Good dog just right out of control. Dog piss is just below battrery acid
