I doubt many of us need a sign to not do that...

Mine prefers concrete. He lines up on corners because, obviously, the edges of bushes and grass have more interesting smells than the boring middle sections. And then he lines up next to the target spot and pees forward, invariably hitting the concrete & splashing (if not directly hitting) his front leg. Every now and again he pees so high it hits his chest. Almost every day he pees on hisself or the sidewalk. I'm at a loss on what to do beyond frequent bathing.

The dog is trespassing by taking a few steps onto the lawn.

I really didn't know this bothered people. My dogs pee in people's grass pretty much everytime I walk them. I'd probably tell someone to fuck off if they were serious about stopping it.

You’d know better than I but the legal easement of the sidewalk actually includes a path larger than the sidewalk, right? At least in most jurisdictions.

No, fling the dog poo bag at them.

People walking their dogs past my shop would let their dogs shit in the parking strip and then not pick it up, it's just the parking strip. I asked one guy to pick up his dogs shit and he got mad. Piss, meh

Aggro fling @ rude non-picker-uppers is a totally valid response.

Yep. In City of Denver it's generally the first 7 feet from the curb.

I believe Danno practices French (aka codified law) which generally does not consider a sidewalk to contain a legal easement which would therefore not nullify the right of the property owner to enforce trespassing laws upon the dog walker. Most importantly, by this standard interpretation, it would be incumbent on the property owner to prove direct ownership of the offending dog owner of said dog. This can be done through confirmation the dog is properly licensed by a recognized government agency which has jurisdiction to license dogs, and an ownership trail established to the dog owner.

I'm pretty certain that French law doesn't codify dog's toilet habits.

This happens quite a bit in my front yard as well as the local middle school. It's a fucking mine field of dog shit at the school. I love dogs but there sure are a shitload of crappy dog owners in PDX. I once had a lady give me shit when I demanded she pay me for her dog popping my kid's soccer ball at the school field. Her response was, " you do know this is an unofficial dog park !".

Telly Smelly, if I find myself doing something socially unacceptable (and it is quite often I find myself in such a predicament), I will pretend I am French and do not speak English very well. I find this generally diffuses the situation and I am free to carry about my business. This works in most countries, except France of course, in which case I pretend to be a Texan.

Dogs peeing on grass would be an ok name for a garage band that does covers of Dead/Phish.
