I highly recommend the documentary "Long Strange Trip". It documents how "the scene" went to shit in the 1980s, among many other things.

IMO, JRAD is the best current version of the Dead going by far.

I get why his music and fans can turn people off. But he lives up the street from me here and by all accounts he is nice and very grounded individual. Lives in a small craftsman, has a wife and two daughters and has a pretty normal life.

    Bitch please.

The one great thing to come out of this thread is that I was introduced to Soulive Holy shit, this show would have been amazing. Also, why have I never heard of Marcus King before?

On reflection, two great things. "...pseudo hippies who wanted to share all your stuff..." is fucking gold. Kudos, Chester.

    Mayer is dead to me

One of the greatest bands to ever exist. It does require a keen ear for talent and a deep understanding of radness.

And where does one go about acquiring said talents, Dead Shows?

Ya know there is a long list of talented musicians with their own fans. Why do Dead fans always have to come with this air of superiority? Is there any band better that the Dead? The Beatles, The Stones?

Would love to go to BBI. Maybe 2021. If it's in February, 2020, I'm going to Spain probably about the same time. And no, I am not skiing. I am taking one for the team as I am taking my middle kid to see the non snowy portions of southern Spain. He doesn't like snow sports. I tried with many years of the program at Smuggs. He is all about the Spanish language, and the culture and history of Spain. The school trip in April is full, so we are going over break the last week in February over school break. Its when I could find cheap tickets and have time. This way I get to go too for the same price as one person. And it's not traditional tourist season. We'll still find plenty to do without being too hot. It's not fair to him for me to take the time to ski. And even still, I am not taking my boots all over creation for one day of skiing. With my freaky Fred Flintstone feet rental boots are not worth it just to say I was on snow.
