    it's a sort of cult of personality -- everyone kinda likes watching his show, but the paintings are hanging (so-to-speak) somewhere in between modest talent for illustration & poorly conceived low brow "art"

    where's that kinkade fan dude? wonder if he liked Bob Ross...

    He was teaching beginners how to paint basic stuff, I don't think he was trying to get into the Whitney.

    Ross was great though he never mastered light like Kinkade did. I constantly hear artists making fun of both, but in a way I imagine there's a bit of jealousy over their mass appeal and success. Ross and Kincade are not only inspirational to beginning painters but they also are often the introduction of non-painters to the world of art who end up being collectors and support the industry as a whole.
