Long Term Storage of New Skis

Would it be beneficial to leave new skis in the plastic or unwrap and slap on some storage wax? Long term to me is 8 months +

Plastic wrap tends not to be air proof (I aways seem to find holes in it when I'm un-wrapping); wax those puppies.

    wax for sure.
i bought a pair of previous seasons stock, that had been stored untouched in a warehouse still in their plastic wrap.
they had dried out, slightly furry, almost to the point of needing to grind them back. luckily now they seem fine tho.

Depends on the manufacturer, maybe. Some companies wax their skis before wrapping them.
