Its at most an inconvenience in the scale of the complexity of these bindings. Is it perfect? Absolutely not. Do I get annoyed when I adjust the toe height too? Absolutely. Is it the most original binding concept actually brought to market and mass production? Absolutely and its not even really close until this Marker binding comes out.

There are compromises in every design, its just how it goes. I will gladly accept the trade offs they provided. Once I got the forward pressure issue figured out, I was super happy with the Shift. If Marker can nail the design of this and make the Salomon sweat a bit and make some improvements, awesome. But I bet there will be a wart or two to live with on this binding as well. We just don't know what they are yet.

Also, I get very frustrated with people bashing the shift because it doesn't ski like a Pivot or tour like a 300g touring binding so sorry for the direct hit on you stuntman. You have a good point, I just needed to say that.

I’m guessing they’re playing to the crowd that says Din 13 isn’t enough.

I’m excited to see how many CrossFit dudes buy these from REI because they’re “going to go so huge this winter”.

They way they’re phrasing things I think this is going to be the new ‘duke.’ Maybe it will even work with standard alpine boots given how that toe piece looks like it’s gonna envelope your boots. Appears to be standard jester type heel on it as well.

Guessing will be a limited mid season release this year, given marketing launch is in November?

There's no way if the toe and heel pieces aren't connected

New Marker Tech touring binding 20/21?

I was thinking if somehow the toe piece clamped the boot’s toe protrusion from top to bottom and left to right. But on further thought there’d really be no way to do that securely enough without damaging the boot from the clamp forces required

Looks to me like it will use a tech toe to connect when touring - the front of the binding on the silhouette shot looks like a lever as used on other tech bindings. How they would integrate that with an alpine looking toe is intriguing.

My speculation based on that picture would be the silver lever is the tech toe and that the alpine part of the toe piece will be removable a la CAST, but with an actual IOS 9523 certified binding.

My money's still on Shift-style convertible toe. But they look WAY heavier.

    What is a CAST rip-off?

Push lever down, slide toe back. Skin to top and Reset toe.

Would be shocked if it’s removable toe on a commercial product like this from Marker. It has to be Shift like in operation.

from my POV that looks a lot like Pindung with this silver lever that pulls pins in and out. Not sure how heel lifters are made but I'd say that at this picture binding is transformed to alpine mode and ready to be skied.
