    Ross Perot RIP

    Ross Perot died today.

Dude ran for President twice, and captured 20 percent of the vote as a legit 3rd party candidate. I voted for him.

    RIP

    RIP Ross.

In 92 my school had a mock election for pres. He carried 60% of the vote.

I've concluded that DJSapp was never DJSapp, and Not DJSapp is also not DJSapp, so that means he's telling the truth now and he was lying before.

We must return immigration to a logical, orderly process where people fill out their applications and wait for approval. We must make sure illegal immigrants stop storming our borders. We must establish the correct criteria, such as our need for certain job skills or education, for granting the right to immigrate into the United States.

I re-watched the first Bush/Clinton/Perot debate today. Put in the context of what is now history it is fascinating. Suffice to say, Perot got it right a lot more times than not. I am proud to have voted for him.

Perot was a smart cookie. It would have been interesting to see what he could have achieved if he had won. In many ways, I think his policies would have been pretty close to the current office holder, although a lot more ethical and honest.

Didn't vote for him. Wouldn't vote for him. He was right about NAFTA. For the wrong reasons. If only peak Bernie Sanders had been in 1992 instead of 2016.

If that had happened, by now the USA would be a socialist hellhole just like Norway.

I was always so impressed by Mr. Perot. He was a political visionary. His efforts to successfully rescue the hostages in Iran will always remain embedded in my mind.

Shook his hand once when he picked up a new car at Sewell Village Cadillac after EDS basically bought GM around 1984. He basically invented the information age by creating database management. Smart savvy dude.

I doubt he would have made a good potus, but at least if he was elected maybe we'd have gotten this insanity out of our system already and with less damage

If he ran the US the way he ran EDS...

I remember he had a questionnaire that potential employees needed to fill out as part of the recruiting process. One of the questions asked about your religious beliefs. I think that would probably be illegal these days.

I was trying to find a link to that, and ran across this tidbit:

I voted for him, but not with a lot of enthusiasm. Given that one of his few specific policy proposals was sharp deficit reduction, he was pretty much one of three Reaganites on the Nov 1992 ballot (I know, Reagan exploded the deficit, but deficit reduction is usually the war cry for cutting entitlements and other govt programs, which was a Reagan thing, a GOP thing, and a Bill "the era of big government is over" Clinton thing). Some of Clinton's more regressive initiatives probably would have also happened under a Perot presidency. I did appreciate that he didn't seem to be owned by anyone, though, and he had some nice bursts of insight in speeches and debates.

Also, a few different detailed poll analyses have concluded that Perot didn't meaningfully change the outcome of the Clinton-Bush contest, either in terms of Clinton's popular vote lead or electoral college outcomes. Perot drew well from both D and R voters.

I remember the VP debate with Admiral Stockdale even though I was a kid. I will say I admire him for getting his people out of Iran, pretty cool to hire a retired SF COL to command the operation: https://taskandpurpose.com/texas-bil...ian-revolution

It isn't obvious that Perot split the Republican vote and allowed Clinton to defeat incumbent Bush1?
And that the memory of that fuckup propelled Bush2 into office and is ergo in part responsible for Iraq War 2?
