The numbers quoted here are ridiculous in both size and pricing.Charlie, here comes the deuce. And when you speak of me, speak well.

Perhaps I missed it, do the Kw/hr prices include the tax credit? It is still cool either way.

Is there enough available land for more of this? Like I assume 90% of Nevada could be covered with solar panels, but with transmission losses/etc would it still be viable?

I just read that at 17% efficiency (pretty standard for new panels, there are panels up to 22.8% available and a panel with 40% efficiency was recently announced) you'd need 10,000 square miles to generate 4 petawatts, which is current US total usage. That's only 100 x 100 miles. The country is 3.8 million square miles. So yeah there's plenty of land. Obviously there's lots of variables but land isn't the issue.

Ohm man eh pad me ohm, I'm amped up, who's going to trademark the Voltswagon? If Musk had any balls, he'd have called his cars Voltswagons.

President Trump Slaps Tariffs on Solar Panels in Major Blow to Renewable Energy
The U.S. will impose duties of as much as 30 percent on solar equipment made abroad, a move that threatens to handicap a $28 billion industry that relies on parts made abroad for 80 percent of its supply.Go that way really REALLY fast. If something gets in your way, TURN!

Well it's pretty clear the Chinese deliberately underpriced panels and sold them at a loss to put US competitors out of business, and it worked, so some room to allow the US industry to restart might not actually be horrible despite the short-term pain. Of all the tariffs this to me is the least objectionable.

That's gotta be pretty much the end of wind, too, I'd think. Those machines are too big and complex and expensive to compete with solar panels. And I just read that the big local project hopes to get down to eleven cents/kwh by 2027.

Yeah just get every damned homeowner to put solar on the roof and it sure could be fantastic. I know ca has some mandatory rules for new builds and renewable.
The fight is just as much the grid companies as it is the coal/natgas.. they lose due to the fact that they choose to fight the change. I will admit upgrading at their own cost would suck but power grids were really build to deliver not take in electricity far as I understand. No Holiday inn Express last night so.
