I'm not sure what's going on in the other part of this thread, but in this part, the explosion pretty much had to be gas. Not a lot of meth labs around there I wouldn't think. Last year the gas company overpressured a line in Mass. and all hell broke loose, it was like a war zone. Amazingly one one person died but there were at least 40 explosions and fires and over a billion dollars worth of damage. It wasn't even a year ago but you don't hear much about it.

But maybe everything that dies someday comes back.

So, the takeaway seems to be to use the insurance money to rebuild.

    Dang.

We had one blow up here a few years back. The explosion leveled the house, severely damaged the houses to either side (killed a couple), and blew out windows all over the neighborhood.

Turned out the homeowner and her conman boyfriend blew it up for the insurance money. They loosened a gas fitting, put some metal in the microwave and set the timer, then went to the casino for the weekend.

    They in jail now.

This happened near me when I was growing up. I woke up one morning and it looked like giant dandelion fuzz had settled in our yard. Turned out that a house maybe a mile away as the crow flies had exploded from a gas leak. It was a pretty new house in a nice subdivision. The couple who lived there were killed. Gas has always made me a bit nervous since.

Happened down the street from my office and my friend is a Charlotte Fire Fighter and I got the texts from the scene in real time. The house was completely leveled with only the center part burning. The husband who is a doctor was recovered early and the wife was in the basement. The house was about 6300 square feet and yes it was completely leveled. He is a gulf war vet and so when he says it looks like a bomb went off, i believe him. I think it was a gas explosion as well.
