Question Do you use binding inserts or buy a new pair of bindings for every ski?

I'm wondering if I should start using inserts like Quiver Killers or Binding Freedoms so more of my money can go to new skis rather than bindings

I went through an insert phase. They work as advertised, but I got sick of swapping bindings. I'd still use them if I traveled a lot and wanted to bring multiple skis (or one ski with multiple bindings), but that's about it.

My kingdom for a lightweight, universal tech binding mounting plate system that is quick on/quick off with no requirement of tools and introduces no slop to the system. I've tried a custom mount plate with pre drilled holes that would mimic the insert system and found after just a few swaps that it's just too time consuming.

I've mounted skis with them and I really like the idea of them, but I always end up just getting another set of bindings for each new pair of skis.

I'm using inserts in all my skis. I have to travel to ski, so it's much easier to pack for the flight, easier to store when I'm home. Swapping bindings everyday will be too much, but swapping them for a trip is not that difficult. Also I easily fit 2 pairs and 1 binding + some gear in 50 lbs limit, so it's also a benefit.

Do you put old tires on a new car?

Mounting your own fucking inserts after fucking up your own fucking mount seems like a monumental fucking mistake.

I've used them when remounting clamps for shorter BSL or different position on the skis. I'll typically enlarge 2 holes and put insert in them so they can be re-used and drill 2 new holes. It's probably slightly better than drilling 4 or 8 more holes in a ski.
I have several pairs with inserts which I mounted with the intention of swapping the bindings but it never happened, as others have said I just got more bindings...

Put them on my wife’s skis because 1) she loved the skis, and 2) she pretty much skied lift serviced during the main ski season and then starting in April skied backcountry through June. So for that instance it worked pretty well to do minimal swapping.

This is where I always end up as well.

More like changing from your 3 seasons to snows.

I'll mount a pair of skis (alpine), and possibly (later on), mount touring bindings on them to see how they tour. Several of my skis have dual mounts for this reason.

    Really good packing approach.

All of my alpine mounts are MNC as well, for added boot compatibility - especially in an air travel context.

I'd have no problem traveling with only my Zero-Gs, two pairs of skis, a pair of Wardens, and Vipecs (skis packed flat).

They work fine. But having enough bindings is better.

They are really nice for having to travel by commercial airplane for ski trips... quiver of 3 pair of skis but only 1 pair of bindings in my ski bag. Space and weight efficient.

I've never bought a new car that came without tires. Please fill us on on those details. Regardless, bindings are more like rims than tires. Do you only use new boots with new skis?

I did search, a lot of the threads I saw were from 2010 and 11 so wanted a more recent opinion

Plus it's the off season so who gives a damn

I usually put two or three bindings on each ski. I find a mix of old and new gives the best results

That way you can still ski if a few friends from out of town unexpectedly drop by.

Can't vote, no option. One of the few reasons to still tele (aside from getting all the hairy granola chicks to myself), plates are king! (for lift served)

the jongs that read the stickies
    seem less sorry
I don't personally dont put large or extra holes in my skis nor swap binders
I have used bf plates on a few to bypass mounting hole conflicts
