    PoMo Psyche

Just sitting here listening to BLACK REBEL MOTORCYCLE CLUB and it got me thinking about Post-Modern Psychedelic musical outfits.

    I really dig:
    THE DANDY WARHOLS
    THE BLACK ANGELS
    DARKER MY LOVE
    THE WARLOCKS
    SKY CRIES MARY

Who should I be checking for?

Electric Octopus, Subarachnoid Space, Surface of Ecyon, if you dig improv psych.

If you like it poppier, Ride, Hoodoo Gurus, Grapes of Wrath.

    Heavier, Swervedriver, the Heads, Grails.

Radar Men from the Moon if you like your psych a bit more experimental.

Funny, I never considered Hoodoo Gurus to by Psyche. To me they were just "College Rock" circa the mid-'80s.

Familiar with Swervedriver and Ride (the latter of which I always lumped in with "shoegazer"). Missed Swervedriver on their recent US tour, sadly.

Will have to peep the others.

Yeah, Hoodoos are probably only vaguely psych, but it’s a muddy definition.

You might also like Tame Impala (more song-based, less outre).

I dig the first coupla TI albums. Haven't heard any of their newer stuff after they supposedly went full-bore pop, though.

Super psyched to see Deerhunter this fall. They’re touring with Dirty Projectors

Mild High Club, Pond, Mac Demarco, Drugdealer, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Grizzly Bear, Inner Wave (their first two albums in particular), Anderson Paak has some psychy hip hop, some Beach House I suppose, some Mr Twin Sister, Homeshake, some Foxygen

I really enjoyed TI Currents. Response has been polarizing amongst fans

These guys are a bit more loungadelic on their albums, but they really amp up the psychedelicism when they play live gigs.

Buddy of mine played guitar with them for close to 15 years, too.

Great docu about them and The Dandy Warhols:
