Way I see it, compared to the promise of ever upward that led the thinking of the Boomers, the 40 somethings today look up and see someone else already owns it. We really can only afford so many billionaires IMO. Too bad.

But back to the point, if you're living in the richest country in the world, in the safest, most progressive era in the history of the world, and you're unhappy about it, fuck you.

Again pretty much 100% bang-on for the Millenials as well.

The Millennials are the spoiled generation. You can blame the boomers for spoiling the useless fucks, but we're still the envy of the world with a phenomenal quality of life and plenty of mobility if one chooses to aspire to it.

The problem is the Millennials were told "we're special" our whole lives and somehow we believed it.

Still, that is too broad brush and you know it. Boomers are so thinned skinned.

Compared to subsequent generations? Come on man.

But yeah my brush was too broad I agree. But still, for a black latino lesbian with one leg and a jewish last name there's never been a better time to be alive.

    Could it be better? duh

Half joking. I don’t see it as generational. But anyone who thinks America is some microcosm to put on a pedestal has lost touch w reality. Plenty to bitch about here for too many. Young and old.

No fucking doubt. But hand-wringing isn't the answer. And honestly, just accepting it isn't that awful a response. But complaining about it while doing jack shit to change it irks this guy right here.

Or blaming a generation. Is there a generation to look up to? Rhetorical.

Despite the rhetorical I say no. The pendulum swings. It always swings too far, and then goes back and swings too far the other way. Nobody has ever figured it all out, but one true thing about pendulums is the modulation decreases over time and eventually they come to a stop in the middle. I think we're on that path. Another 10,000 years or so and we should be good.

Part of the problem IMO is we were "too successful" for many - them foreigners now expect the same benefits that were exclusive to our (NATO) Fraternity 3 decades ago. Then The Soviet done quit and things got... weird. We've been looking for a new enemy ever since.

Question for the rock throwers here - what should the boomers have done differently?
Besides not helicopter over their kids so much...

About 9% (17 million) of white American are living in poverty. That's less than half the rate for black and brown folks, but still pretty fucked up.

Would have been nice if they noticed this bullshit before, you know, democracy died:

I would say that is grossly higher for whites and even more so for people of color. ~1/3 of our country.
