Unsafe is unsafe, I don't think you can turn 737's into cargo planes before this is settled

    https://www.cbc.ca/news/business/boe...rter-1.5223129

Boeing is having the big losses, they are still making the 737 max but not delivering them

the big question might be when to buy boeing stock ?

I thought the existing plans could be used because it’s a software fix?

The 737MAX will probably get certifyed but it It all takes time, meanwhile they are still building em/parking em at the plant, those planes will all have to be retro fitted with whatever is needed, it might software or maybe the 2 sensors need to act independantly of one another ... fucknose eh

one thing for certain its costing Boeing butt loads of money

there are a number of 737 freighter conversion around now. the question isn't "can it be done technically" it's "can it be done profitably because there are buyers" and I have no idea about the latter.

I'm sure the planes aren't going to the junkyard. I wouldn't be amazed if they made them add another Angle of Attack sensor so there's three so the software can be written reject a single reading that's way off the other 2.

I imagine that is plan Z and probably only occurs if Boeing were to file bankruptcy.

    Great Boeing 737 max analysis

Even if they get certified are they too tainted for passengers? If so sell the whole fleet to Amazon for cargo or strip the engines for a new design. Ralph Nader lost family in Ethiopian crash and he’s not going down easily.

They would probably be safer than what some airlines in Nepal use, send it them so they can upgrade.

Is part of the problem that many commercial pilots don’t have that much VFR experience? The crew that belly landed at SFO did mostly instrument landing and SFO wasn’t equipped for that.

737 doesn't have good "rock in the middle of the runway" avoidance skills. boeing already poisoned the 737max well in the biggest/least safe aviation market - Indonesia.

iceman - first couple 787 fuckups were scrapped because noone wanted them. anything that's "unique" maintenance wise becomes a pita

    No on the first sentence.

If you're referring to Asiana 214 in the second sentence, that's a whole other can of worms.

Airbus A350 software bug forces airlines to turn planes off and on every 149 hours

^^^ older airbuses have a thing with the clock. There's a self-diagnostic on the wingtip brake system that needs to maintain a log, so if the clock is off by more than that amount of time, you're not going flying.

Not sure how many killed directly, couple three hundred? I wonder what number of accidents were factored into the equation that the CFO used in his cost v savings analysis of pushing speed over safety. Maybe in 10 years the'll just be making war planes ans border protection drones. Culture is a hard thing to turn around.
