Burning a trade today to replace Rowe changes my strategy for a trade during the final true mountain stages or a trade for the sprint into Paris.

Krikey, I threw a backfist right in front of the grandstand at the Gaspesia.
The rat was running me into the barriers and disisted while wretching and weaving. No penalty. No further interference for the rest of the race.

Put my hand on the doctors car at the Beauperie, got an 18 second penalty, seemed okay to me as I wasn't being treated for anything.

Throwing guys out seems uncalled for; relegations or time penalties make more sense.

Not sure I was successful in taking it easy for today's ride. Good rolling rises route over 62.9 miles netted 2420 feet of vert and enabled me to pull a season high average of 15.4 mph. Not very exciting as pace goes, but I track stand or foot down red lights and stop signs; those speed changes to and from stops add up.

Anybody check the overall standing for all the entries? Leader has 11807 points. I thought I did pretty good yesterday with 790 and didn't even crack the top 200.

You must have 8 riders purchased/chosen. If one of your rider has abandoned that still counts as one of your 8 that you purchased. You can continue with 7 plus 1 abandoned riders.

So if a rider abandons you don't need to replace him, even if you have credits?

Thanks. Hard to see Rowe’s transgression without commentary.

A little over the top for both of them IMO. Martin’s stunt was a just too obvious- read today he gets hotheaded at times.

And Rowe’s fist-push was lame too - everybody knows to use a shoulder, not an elbow or outstretched hand, to push a competitor off his line.

Now the big question is which team is hurt more by this...

Correct. You can keep 7 active plus 1 abandoned, even if you have credits.
You can keep your abandoned rider and keep your credit in case your GC hopeful crashes out before Paris.

I agree with bobke on this one. Fuck Ineos and their air of superiority. Luke is a goon. Martin shouldn’t have been dq’ed for trying to protect his leader after that stunt.

After looking into it more, I have to agree on both ideas. Thugs? Boot them! Self and team defence shouldn't be penalized harshly.

Two big days left, and it really could be anyones race.
20 seconds separates 2nd through 5th. With an 8s, 5s and 2s time bonus at the summit if Col de I'Iseran, and 10s, 8s, 4s at the finish line, the bonuses could determine overall podium positions.

Man JA can ride a bike down a hill

Was he one of the only ones who was rocking the disk brakes?

That may be one of the reasons he was so much faster going down - and could have cost him a bit on the up.

His Specalized SWorks Tarmac Disk with CLX50 Rovals comes in under the legal weight of 6.8 kgs.
He has zero disadvantages on the climb because he is using a disc bike.

    Another mass break tomorrow?
Looks perfect for those who didn't spend it all today. The hills are not quite so stout* and the minutes could pile up fast.

Madelein as a third category? Seems odd not to get all of it.

I know nothing of the stuff of roadies - but why wouldn't they all run disks?

My gravel bike has old-school brakes and they suuuuuuuck.

Watching JA run up the inside of the pack under braking like they were standing still was amazing- sure a good chunk of that is his skill on the bike - but some at least has to be the lack of brake fade and abundance of power.

    There are a few reason.
It has to do with wheel changes taking longer, as in switching a wheel from a teammate.
The complexity/availability of the wheels that are carried on neutral service bikes also put fear in teams to run discs.
Some of it is personal preference.
Specialized are one of the few manufactures that can get their disc bike below (or close to) the legal weight.
For example the Pinarellos can’t get close to weight limit even with their rim brake version.
