    Female Rappers

Did a search and found nothing...

Women in rap have always had it rough, I'd say even rougher than women in rock/metal/jazz/country, given the inherent misogynistic nature of rap as a whole (not that those other genres are devoid of the supreme male slant, but rap is and always has been decidedly male dominant).

Just been listening to NIKKI D.'s Daddy's Little Girl today (pulled it out of the crates). Not bad and still holds up in terms of beats and flow (it was released in 1991).

So, who are the femme fatales of rap that you dig?

When Queen Latifah kicked serious ballistics (and Monie Love actually upstages her, if you can believe that!)

I don't know names unless I get going on the googles, and technically not really rapping, but anyone else think that some of these chicks that sing in some raps have THE most gorgeous voices?

It makes perfect sense...until you think about it.

I suspect there's logic behind the madness, but I'm too dumb to see it.

Well, Missy Elliott was just inducted into the Songwriters HOF, so I am pretty sure she ranks up there. She is my personal favorite. Mostly due to her weird personal style, and don't give a fuck attitude when it comes to the misogynistic rap culture you mentioned. She stands alone as far as I am concerned.

    The weirdest video- my favorite

I'm not sure if I'd call Boyfriend rap, but she sure is something! Go to 1:18:30

I will anti-recommend this. I think Nicki Minaj and Cardi B are both as annoying as anything else on the radio. Right up there with Bebe Rexha, EDM, and mumble rap.

I got intro'd to bahamadia when this album/song came out

This is a good one fo hers:

There's also some song with her and Slug (atmosphere) and someone else, it's a great but intense song about depression, drugs, etc but I can't find it? Dookey? Anyone? it's somehow not in my music folder after listening to it for years. Very old song. Maybe from the 90s or early 2000's.
