The resurgence of “bushcraft” is totally fucking lame. Folks are heading out in the woods like it’s 1952 and using old and outdated techniques.

While mountain biking on some not exactly legal trails, we realized my buddy’s vacation home owning neighbor had gone for a hike with his hatchet and cut blazes into the trees along the trails every 20 feet or so. He didn’t use flagging tape or paint, he chopped 8” long by 4” wide blazes into sugar maples, white birches, and any damn tree he chose. My friend had to go out with can of tree pruning and grafting sealer so the trees don’t all die.
