Again, its a goddamn dinner party for a HS graduation and some panties were twisted over not being at the head table.

As awesome as it is to skip all the tsa lines, the waiting, and the commercial traffic lanes, private is an embarrassing display of excess on so many levels. How many carbon offsets are needed?

About 10 years ago, I was in downtown Portland, a limo cruised by, and a little kid put his head out the window and yelled "I graduated from 6th grade!" Yeah, a limo ride for "graduating" from elementary school.

I shook my head and thought about how poorly that kid was being served by his parents, about how his expectations were going to be inflated to the point that nothing in his adult life would ever measure up, how our society sometimes seems to expect so little from its children, and how his limo ride represented so many of our social ills in a nutshell.

And you know, I wished I could share those thoughts with him. But he was driving by and there was no time, so I had to go with shorthand: I smiled at him and flipped him off. He looked crushed, so maybe my message got through.

I feel like either what you did or yelling "well whoop-dee shit!" would both be acceptable responses.

Hardly as much as a day at Vail, if you think about it.

    I hear you
I did it into Augusta for a Sunday at the Masters with clients on my company owners jet and it was like a mall parking lot on December 23rd. Literally jets parked as far as you could see and carts grabbing people.
ridiculously gross and awesome ( in the true sense of the word) at the same time

If I had the coin I’d never fly commercial again. Don’t really care about environmental impact but did feel slight tinge of guilt over just two of us in a citation latitude that seats eight. Prolly could have given a seat to someone deserving - like an unwed teen mom on a make-a-wish trip.

It's all about the build up... Daycare graduation ceremony.. Pre school graduation ceremony... 5th grade elementary school graduation ceremony... Middle school graduation ceremony.. High school graduation ceremony.. Trust fund FTW.. Pay 500K to get them in to college.. No telling how much they're paying their interns to do the kids college work. Saw it happen at a place I worked a few years ago.. Company owner/director had the content specialists and editors writing her kids' college and then MBA school papers and project PPTs..

I got to fly a chartered private from Reno to Sacramento. I can't say it was a whole lot of fun, since I was bundled up, strapped in with an IV in my arm and a couple of RN's watching my vitals, and the service sucked, since when they went to give my some morphine about half way through the IV was plugged up. I didn't tip.

Getting out of HS without getting shot seems to be a milestone these days
