Hey. It’s 4:30. Sunday morning now. I’m kinda drunk. No I can’t shoot up a flair and check into a program. Can’t!! That’s full tilt. And I end up sleeping on the street. That’s the reality. So right this minute I got it going on. But? I want my life back. This ain’t it

Find a meeting and sit in the back row.

    It’s soothing and reassuring.

    And a good first step.

    You’re not alone.

Your employer can NOT fire you for checking in to rehab. They have to give you the 30 days and give you a similar position when you return. Being an alcoholic is an ADA protected disability. If they fire you you can sue them and likely win enough money to take several years off work..

You can't do this alone. At bare minimum, 2 in person meetings a day for the first 30 days. But rehab would be super helpful to facilitate that. KEEP COMING BACK!
Go that way really REALLY fast. If something gets in your way, TURN!

If someone starts a go fund to get you into a good rehab, I would absolutely kick down.

I think you could probably just have a dr write a note that you need to be off for x amount of days for a medical reason. FMLA and stuff. FMLA gives you 90 days. Or 120 days. I cant remember, but a good amount.

Our priorities and needs seem set in stone when we are drinking. It’s amazing looking back, but if you truly get sober you will wonder htf you did what you did for as long as you did.
TLDR, get sober first. Everything will sort itself out later.

Vibes MTT. I was battling for a number of yrs before I got tired enough. Chilling in AA for me is a plus. We have chill ppl here that aren't overly religious and heavy.

I'm stoked on the clarity and peace of not riding the emotional chaos train of getting hammered all the time. Hope you can get there. Boring is good.

Reach out if you need to shoot the shit. Plenty of dudes here to take shop with. Peace.

Good luck MTT. When you get sick of fighting and admit you know ZERO about getting and staying sober it gets a whole lot easier. It's pretty freeing admitting defeat and being a beginner at something.

Sometimes I wonder if I would be less obese if I didn't know how to cook.

Or maybe instead of posting in every fucking thread on trg, you could actually try some form of exercise.

Why would I have a stick up my ass? Such an angry little man, sobriety suits you.

Good god you two, get a fucking room. That is not what this thread needs.

Agree that life is sooooo much simpler and better in recovery….sober alone didn’t change a whole lot

When someone espouses(brags really)all the positive things about sobriety but still can’t help giving angry jabs to a poster that posts about his struggles with obesity, the problem with that person wasn’t their drinking. It’s great if you need to get your life under control but if you’re still an asshole then that wasn’t your main problem. So it seems relevant to me in that context.
