From what I understand it wasn't the drug that claimed MJ but it was responsible for the death's of Mac Miller, Prince, and Tom Petty.

Simulation proof: when having pictures of pretty tropical resorts is more important than keeping the guests alive once they get there.

MJ was propofol, which is a straight up anesthetic.

Does $7800 strike anyone as low for the hit? Or is that the going rate there?

Supply and demand. There apparently is an over supply of assassins relative to the number of targets and their total monetized value.

So I’ve been ignoring this DR blather since I was skeptical there was anything statistically valid going on but was too lazy to look into that. Welp someone has: https://slate.com/technology/2019/07...overblown.html

Our trip to the DR for a reunion in February just got canceled because people were freaking out. I was trying to tell them it's probably the safest time in history to go there now but no dice. People.

Just as well. So many nicer islands than the DR. I went there for a destination wedding a few years ago. Outside the resort, what a shithole.

meh, it's a volcanic island in the Caribbean that's relatively poor. People are nice, food is fresh, & there're enough things to keep you busy for weeks.

How about recalculating the data as all 2nd and third world destinations vs 1st world instead of DR versus other 3rd world resorts? Pretty sure there's plenty of bad booze, DDT, and drug gangs to go around and that's why 12 deaths in DR within that time frame isn't as significant. DR is just the most recent poster child for what the risks are all over 2nd and 3rd world vacation destinations.
