Vancouver and Victoria must do's
Heading to Vancouver and Victoria for a week with 3 older teens and looking for some sage local advice. If I leave it up to the wife we'll be touring every fucking farmer's market and craft booth in western Canada so help me out with some winners here. Being from Portland I don't need any extra stops at peeler joints and will be bringing all the h and meth I need for the week so a treasure map for scoring a quick fix isn't necessary.
We're staying near the olympic village in Vancouver and on the harbor in Victoria with a car.

Orca tours are close (In Van it takes most of the tour to get to them). 20 minutes and you're in teh pod (if you're lucky. Nasty Lumpy days seem best in my experience
Insect zoo downtown.
Spelunking up near Nanaimo if you're going to take the ferry.

It was a little different than back in my time when there was one AZN kid in my class, and one east indian fam in the whole school
Vangroovy is now full of my people so you will show up like white on rice, my people have laundered all the money from china into the RE /casinos / expensive cars which is why nobody can afford to live there
but the restaurants are awesume!Lee Lau - xxx-er is the laziest Asian canuck I know

Or hike up the Grouse grind and take the gondola down after dinner.
From Victoria if the weather is good a drive out to Port Renfrew would be worth it. Check out Avatar Grove for a hike.
Between Nanaimo and Campbell River the old Island highway is a nice drive. A day trip to visit one of the Islands like Salt Spring, Hornby/Denman, Pender could be cool for a change of pace as well.

Don't ever order Caesar Salad in Canada. Most Canadians think the dressing should resemble mayonnaise. It's nasty. I first experienced this in some hole in the wall Cafe in Port Alberni in 1992. I have yet to find good Caesar dressing in Canada. My daughter is devestated as she loves Caesar Salad and can't find edible ones while she at Uni. However, I had great Greek Food in Nanaimo while I was killing time waiting for the next Ferry to Horseshoe Bay. Who knows if that place is still there. I highly recommend touring that general area on a motorcycle.

If Whistler is too far, check out the Sea to Sky Gondola.

X2 on the Acteryx factory outlet in North Van especially because you're paying in US $ worth about $1.38 Canadian.
Tell you're kids to leave the phones at home because we don't have Internet in Canada yet. That way they will actually get to see something.

If you drive to Whistler there's also the Sea to Sky gondola in Squamish that's substantially cheaper than the "Whistler 360 Experience" or whatever the heck they call the summer sightseeing pass.

fatnslow a bit more specific please. What do the 3 teens like to do? Outdoors? Eat? Walk? Bike? Your request is suitably vague. Like I want to go to Europe and ski. Where should I go vague

We won't be heading to Whistler, more on the urban scene with a little hiking and sight seeing. I'm trying not to spend too much time in the car while in Vancouver. Pretty adventurous eaters, more interested in ethnic street food vs. high end dining. Looking for parks and beaches a local family would head out to for the afternoon.

I can cover off food and a little hike
Harbour Cruise downtown - the cruise in Burrard Inlet and then down to Indian Arm along with the lunch buffet is a pretty good deal. Water is calm and dead beautiful on a clear day
Hikes
- Lighthouse Park in West Van
- Lynn Canyon Park in North Van. Go early
Food
- Banana Leaf in Kitsilano for Malaysian food.
- Shabusen Korean on Alberni for some pretty solid Korean bbq.
- Tamarind Hill in North Van for Malaysian curry laksa. Rest of their Malaysian menu is pretty good
- Peaceful Restaurant - several locations. Good variety of Chinese noodles. Some spicy some not so spicy
- Indian Fusion North Vancouver. There's better in South Van and Surrey but I'm not qualified to refer them
Other people have generic stuff on the Sea to Sky highway covered

Can’t go wrong with any of these restaurants.

Lots of good options right in Olympic village too. Flying pig, bao down, wild tale, Tap and Barrel (great patio, OK food), nook, Nuba.
Could easily spend an afternoon just wandering the sea wall from Olympic village - east past science world into Yaletown or west out towards granville island / kits. There’s aqua buses that can bounce you around various places on the sea wall too, or renting bikes would be a good option too.

Dont remember the street but there used to be a couple of pot stores or smoke friendly spots in Vancouver. I judged a couple of competitions there back in the early 2000s.
