If Amgen can sponsor the Tour de Calif, I think it is logical for some skin cancer related product to sponsor the PGA

trekking at 5kM may not make you a mountaineer, but if strenuous will give you a pretty good idea of how you'll handle altitude, which as I said has a large genetic component unrelated to conditioning. Of course the higher you go in preparation for Everest the better.

Smoking black charras on a 5000m pass is fkn headrush. Bics turn into spitty flamethrowers that high, so you wanna carry a 4" magnifying glass for melty sol bowls.

I've hiked a 5275m peak and spend a few nights over 4250m. The hiking (friendly class II/III with snow) was no biggy but I never slept well high even with the meds despite living over 2800m.

I cannot imagine the logistics of going to the bathroom on Everest esp in base camp 4. Maybe that's something an experience climber should be versed in as well as the technical stuff.

A friend of mine was on a guided climb on Denali--not nearly as high as Everest but even worse weather. He said early in the trip people would go off 100 yards and build a wall of snow to poop behind. By the end of the trip people were sticking their bare asses out of the tent door.

" Sherpas now make up close to one in two climbers, compared with roughly one in 10 during the 1970s and 1980s."

some interesting data in that artical ^^ so without the Sherpa's how many of these " climbers " would get anywhere close to the summit ?

OTOH compared to what the average person lives on in Nepal the sherpa's make a lot of fucking money to work for the western climbers

I like when it comes out of the can in that can-shape and you can saw rounds off it like a lumberjack.

My kids refuse to eat it in any other fashion--they need to see the marks from the can so they now it's authentic. (Note--my "kids" are 33 and 31.

    Yep.
Mom would just open the can and let it slide out into a bowl.

Ocean Spray changed their cans a few years ago, now they have rounded bottoms that you can't use a can opener on. I'd always cut both ends and that log would slide right out. Not any more. They have fucked with my cranberry sauce mojo.

I have had success sliding a knife between the can and the jelly to break the suction.

    How to Fix Everest

Officially renaming the mountain to something less sexy, like Mount Fecal-Contaminated-Water, seems obvious.

Better yet, encourage people to go to the poles. Lots of room to spread out and if you fall down you won't hurt yourself. (Hope I didn't post that already.)
