A Quick Advocacy Request
We're trying to get some new trail approved by the forest service near Whitefish, MT. If approved, it'd be about 40 miles of new trail that would connect in to the top of the ski hill, the bottom of the ski hill, and lower networks down in the valley. It opens up the opportunity for some great access onto various alpine backcountry trails, and also creates a few ~4000 vert descents that'd be relatively easy to get to from the top of the resort.
If people could submit comments in support, that'd be much appreciated. Comments are due by the end of day this coming Thursday, May 23.
Comments should support Alternative 2, which includes all of the trails we want to build. Noting that you're a mountain biker is helpful. Comments don't need to be long - a sentence or two showing your support goes a long way.
How to comment: Send an email to comments-northern-flathead-tally-lake@fs.fed.us and put “Taylor Hellroaring Project” in the subject line. You can address your comments to Project Leader Tami Mackenzie. Include your name, phone number, and address in your comment.
Forest Service documentation on the project can be found here: https://www.fs.usda.gov/project/?project=50518
Take a look at “Part 4 Appendices” for maps of the proposed trails.
Thanks!

We've had a good winter but it should be riding by the middle of July.
Until recently spring has been warm and rainy which is helping with the snowpack..
Some folks "in the know" think the lionhead might be spared, I'm sure bikers will get screwed somehow or other

Maybe Lionhead will slide through until these fuckers get what they want and come back around for that missing piece.

Bumping to remind folks to write Lionhead/ Custer-Gallatin comments before June 5 please. Good sources of info here: https://www.mtbcgnf.org/gallatin-range
and submit comments here: https://www.mtbcgnf.org/submit-a-comment-to-usfs
If you've never ridden the Lionhead, then put it on your list. Some of the best alpine singletrack in the world.
