these trail advocacy threads are great. just got the email about taylor hellroaring draft approval. I'm sure my thoughtful public comment isn't the reason it was approved, but I live far away and I never would have sent in a comment if someone hadn't posted this.

$10 to support Montana trails enters you to win an Esker Elkat bike. Every extra $10 counts as an additional entry.

"Custer Gallatin Forest Plan Revision
- OUR STATUS -
The Final Plan - Coming Early Summer -
The Custer Gallatin National Forest would like to take a moment to say thank you for all the public involvement and contributions in the Forest Planning process to date.
Since the draft plan comment period closed last summer, the Custer Gallatin has been working hard to review and analyze comments, respond to the concerns brought forward and prepare the final documents.
What to Expect, What is Next?
We anticipate publishing the Final Plan and draft Record of Decision in early summer.
The publication of the draft Record of Decision will initiate a 60-day objection period. The final plan, final EIS with a summary of response to comments, associated maps, and other helpful documents will accompany the draft Record of Decision.
To read more about the objection process visit our directives between now and rollout. Objection - Resolution Step
- Thank you, Custer Gallatin Forest Plan Revision Team

Montana update:
Taylor Hellroaring. 28 miles of new trail approved in November. https://www.fs.usda.gov/nfs/11558/ww...T3_5006582.pdf
Custer Gallatin NF. Shooting for Final EIS by end of June. The objection period is only for people who have commented in a previous period and therefore have "standing".
Totally different process but right near Bozeman, stay tuned for more. https://nbcmontana.com/news/local/ju...orest-projects
Helena Lewis and Clark NF. On a similar timeline with Custer Gallatin but possibly later for the release of their Final EIS.

^^^ also in the flathead, 25 miles of new trail approved on the crystal cedar project (immediately north of Columbia Falls). http://www.flatheadamb.org/crystal-cedar.html
It'll probably be 5 years or so before there's much actually on the ground in that or Taylor Hellroaring, but it's still exciting to finally get those approved.
And a big thanks to everyone that wrote comments in support!
