Current Wallowa conditions
Hi Gang,
Wondering if any of the collective has beta on the conditions in the wallowas. Snow still seems deep enough from the aneroid gage. BUT it hasn’t been getting below freezing in the nights.
Only about a 2 hr haul for me and thinking of heading over sat.
Any info appreciated.
Mike

Looks like the tram is operating weekends:

One can hike up over to East Peak from the tram and ski a nice N. facing snowfield into June normally.Merde De Glace On the Freak When Ski

It's a shame they don't keep the tram running in the winter anymore.
There's some really good bowls off the NE backside of Howard and it would be so easy to run a bus from the McCulley snowpark back to the lift. All the pieces are there.Merde De Glace On the Freak When Ski

Most of my time over there is off of salt creek. Skiing those lines and dropping into McCully from the east. Makes for a VERY long day.
I’m guessing there is still some snow off of Salt Creek .

We used to go in from Salt Creek too, but found Wing Ridge a lot easier access for thoser 6 lap days.
I don't know if that area is still holding snow, but I've stayed there in May and skied a few times.
McCully is a slog fer shure.
Never went in via Halfway but Cornucopia always looked choice.Merde De Glace On the Freak When Ski

I am considering a trip to the Willowas in August. Thinking about skiing on Eagle cap if the snow pack and my body will allow it. Any info on the condition of this year's pack would be appreciated.
