I've had an IR sauna in an open garage for the past few years and like it a lot more than I thought. I previously had a steam shower/sauna like Ice was talking about, which was awesome.

The IR sauna is definitely hot. When it's 130 and you're siting in front of the IR, 25 minutes is about my max. It's hot enough for sure.

I like the steam when it's really cold and dry in Winter in the mountains. I live in a warm coastal climate now and the IR is great for that year round.

I found a used unit on CL for $500. 4 man, cedar IR sauna. Super easy setup. Never regretted the purchase one bit.

Good tip to think about CL, thanks. I just found a nice one for $800, it's pretty far away but if it's still available I'm gonna grab it I think.

Oh I’ve already priced out the materials to build my own in the back yard but time is a factor and that’s why I’m buying one.

House I bought had a big 8x8 sauna.
Heater was dead so for five hundo I got it going.

After a few years did not use it as much as I thought I would.
Ended up breaking it down and creating a bedroom instead

But yes build your own. It’s just an insulated cedar lined box. Five hundo gets you the heat. Very easy to do.

I really miss the steam sauna I had in the basement of my old house. I also miss the steam sauna at the gym next door to where I used to work.

My sauna game has taken a definite dive lately. An in home sauna (or a reasonable place to put one) is definitely high on my list for my next home.

A sauna without dousing water on hot rocks doesn’t add up for me.
    focus.

last time I checked, we were buying a duplex, each getting half

I'm more into hot tubs, then steam rooms, not too into sauna's too hot and dry for my tastes

I felt the same way, but have been surprisingly happy with my IR unit.

Went with this one after reading all the reviews I could find and a friends experience with infrared saunas.

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Saved over $300 between a $100 gift card from Amazon and $200 for putting it on a new credit card that gave me $200 for spending $2,000 within the first two months at 0% for 12 months. Screw waiting for my birthday, I couldn’t pass up those savings. Will report back.

That one kinda freaked me out when I first saw it, like wasn’t that in a Bond movie where he killed one of the bad guys by sticking a ski pole through the outside handles then he was saunaed to death.

Not ilooking to hook up with some snowdance god from the UP, just looking to put myself in that full blown trip that a sauna brings.

    infrared is legit.

Takes 15 to 20 minutes to get up to 120 which doesn’t sound like much but is equivalent to a 180 traditional sauna. I set mine for 135 and can take it for 30 mins before I need water. All in all if you want a affordable sauna infrared is a great alternative.
