As someone that works in data adjacent to these things: they're reasonably lossy and in that terrible trough of "looks reliable most of the time" and "not 100%" that would likely lead to some unfortunate cases of mistaken identity.

Though it would require SF police actually caring about policing so....

I'm a technology professional against the use of shitty technology. No privilege needed. Also yes, that's a serious problem.

Sigh. I know a bit too much about a new system just put into service in SFnto really talk about this. The system is a big one in a very public facility.

People think way too much about themselves and that BB gives a shit about them. The head of security at this facility is more interested in identifying serial poopers and getting them out of the facility before they poop on it. Or shoot up and leave needles around. And maybe they get a terrorist as a bonus. Beyond that, nobody cares about 98% of the population.
