These guys have Stones above Zep with Who in 3rd of these three bands. However, they have Beatles #1, Stones #2, Zep #3, Who #12 and Sabbath #14. https://ultimateclassicrock.com/top-...-rock-artists/
Personally, it's a toss-up for me between Stones, Who, Zep with Sabbath not really registering. I will say that in the past, The Who was my very top choice but I think I just burned out on them. I still listen to them, Stones, and Zep pretty regularly but Sabbath just every once in awhile.

Once you cast that wide a net it really comes down to genre preference. I listen to way more Dylan and Neil Young than the big three mentioned here, but I don't think it's a direct comparison. Where Hendrix fits in is a more interesting question. I think he's hurt by the short career. It's easy to bored with even a great band if they only have 3 albums from a 2 year period. Imagine what they might have accomplished if Jimi had just lived 5 more years.

i don't put hendrix in the same category as the stones, zep and the who. but of those 4 the who is the only one who never really moved me. catchy stuff but nothing that mattered to me.

Isn't that the point about those lists? To be controversial.

No, no they don't. Seriously, though, even though I'm not a fan, I don't know how you don't put the beatles #1. So, so many just masterpiece ALBUMS. Revolver. rubber soul. White. etc. I think those four and it's up to the person to decide the order.
Black sabbeth? ha. Uriah Heep is opening for somebody fucked up here soon. Can't remember who but it was pretty funny. so there's that."Can't you see..."

Yes, the Beatles are number one, everyone else is fighting for a distant second place. And even though I'm not the hugest fan, I think it's the Stones.

Different genres.
The Who were the best punk band, turned their own brand of RnR.

Zep by a mile with Floyd mixed in, blasting out over the meadow and pond on a rainy afternoon, sitting on the porch, with friends smoking and drinking this new thing that wasn't called microbrews just yet and watching the rain fall on the pond. Haunting music echoing off the redwoods. Smoke from the fire drifting through them. Nordic feel.
I remember those days fondly and still hang with those friends and watch the rain come down when I get a chance back home around Xmas. I listen to French and Lebanies hip hop now, but still throw in Zep. My kids dig it too.
Who never did it for me, ever.Education must be the answer, we've tried ignorance and it doesn't work!
