$48.33 to be exact (in my case). If you use Geico for car insurance, call them up and say you subscribe to Smithsonian magazine. They knocked $48.33 off of my bill. My grandmother sends me that magazine. I happened to be in the bathroom perusing the reading material and came across a Geico ad for a special discount. She never asked for any subscription info.

Hey a deal's a deal right? Also, just calling them and just asking for deals/shopping around is usually lucrative because most people don't. There seems to be some sort of strange loyalty people have with insurance, idk why. Perhaps good experiences/bad experiences? That could be a whole 'notha thread in itself

Because they are fucking idiots and for some reason believe that their insurance company will not fuck them over at the first opportunity.

Possible. I have decent levels of liability coverage, but no collision coverage as all my cars are ancient and high mileage. My father in law is a life time insurance guy and he has reviewed our policies.

I only stick with them because they are the best price.

My mom was killed in an auto accident, and it was her fault, and another guy was killed as well. The insurance company tried to fuck over the widow, and she hired lawyers, my dad stepped in (his policy) and made sure they insurance company paid out in full to the lady and told the ambulance chaser lawyers circling for 40% of the payout to kindly fuck off.

I have no notions that insurance has my back. They have their back.

I will take $50 wherever I can find it.
