    Who ties flies? Fly exchange...

Is any one interested in having a fly exchange?

If, say 10 people wanted to participate, everyone would tie 10 of the same flies and send them with return postage to one person. That person would put one of everyone's flies in everyone's preaddressesed envelope and drop them in the mail.

Yeah, that’s not how fly swaps typically work.
As the tyer proposing the swap, you are volunteering to host it and do the collecting/sending.
It is also customary to have a theme. Guys in Cape Cod have no use for my beetles any more than I have a use for steelhead flies.
But hey, there are no rules in fly tying.

one of my customers who comes every year and catches huge amounts of steelehead sez " ya I buy lots of ze cheap flies cuz I vill go deep and lose them anyway "

Last year was crazy low not good for the fishing, it was so low the jet sleds couldn't get up the river, this year already looks like a really lame runoff and I wouldn't be surprised if this fall is worse than last year

I like tying my own flies.

The first fish I caught on the fly was on a fly I tied.

    I like that.

I think this forum turns over less then most and many here fished Maria. That was a fun way to share adventures. Did she get broken? Should we get another one going?

As for a fly swap, I am in, but I am only willing to contribute green drakes. This being my first year here, I need to work on my drake patterns for the impending hatches.
