I disagree. It's hilarious. Not only do I love Star Wars, I love all the fuming about how space wizards are being inadequately portrayed. Going tonight with my mom, who took me to see the original at a drive-in, and my boy who will be seeing a Star Wars movie in the theatre for the first time.

I'm one of those non committal people who enjoys both Star Wars and Star Trek equally. I am a bit old school about both though preferring TOS over TNG and 456 over 12378 (and probably 9).

My hyper/overly critical grumpy “major spoilers” podcast listening teen liked it a lot.

It was my twins first time see a SW movie in the theatre, too. What a treat!

If you have strong feeling about exactly how everything in Star Wars should play out, and use phrases like "preserving the sanctity" when opining about it all, you'll probably hate it. Have fun being miserable and complaining. If you think Star Wars is fun most of the time, well, this one is funner than most.

All I have to chime in at the moment is that I was stoked somebody finally convinced JJ to dial back on the annoying lens flare effect....

Ok, I think this is the definitive ranking. Somehow I never saw the Ewoks movies so I left them out but it’s hard to imagine they’re worse then revenge of the Sith....

    empire strikes back
    star wars
    rogue one
    solo
    force awakens
    return of the Jedi
    rise of skywalker
    last Jedi
    attack of the clones
    star wars holiday special
    phantom menace
    revenge of the Sith

Revenge of the Sith was better than Phantom Menace.

I had a vague memory of seeing it when I was a kid and mentioned it to my son which led to him finding it on YouTube so we watched it again. Atrocious. I guess George Lucas has tried to erase it from history but it’s still out there

Saw it last night. It was a good time. Fast paced, but not overly frantic. Leia's arc was better than I thought it would be given Carrie is gone.

Also for those with younger kids that are on the line, it is the spookiest one yet. Not dark and heavy themes like rogue one, more like monster nightmare fuel for 9 year olds. If your kid was scared of the emperor, you've been warned.

I've concluded that DJSapp was never DJSapp, and Not DJSapp is also not DJSapp, so that means he's telling the truth now and he was lying before.

Revenge of the Sith needs to be a fair amount higher, adding a solid level of political allegory that managed to partly redeem the (not great) movies that set up its plot, Menace and Clones.

And Rogue One (which really just underscored what was learned in Sith, and added some unnecessary backstory details for Star Wars "New Hope") much, much lower. Rogue One was one retreaded thing after another from previous movies; it's the one movie that I actually found boring, despite non-stop flashy battles.

Christmas Day, back row, 5:45pm show time, 5 minutes before previews started. Two other small groups did show during the previews for a total of 10 people in the theater for the show. I got TWO cup holders as I demanded!

I liked it a thought it was a fitting wrap up. However, as was warned above, likely some nightmare fuel for younger kids. The sith temple was dark and the emperor extra creepy.

Pretty sure they straight jacked the Emperor bit from the classic cult 1980s sci-fi yarn Spacehunter: Adventures In The Forbidden Zone, specifically the Michael Ironside character Overdog:

and perhaps some Japanese anime, as well....that whole sequence reeked of deja vu....

Right? I remember when I was a kid the emperor from Return gave me nightmares. I was 7 or so at the time.

I'm amazed my 9 year old handled this one. 7 year old me would have pissed my seat in the theater.
