WTB - entry level full suspension bike in Montana
Hey all,
I’m looking forward to the summer season, and it looks like I’ll have some time off for trail riding in June.
I’d like to buy a used bike off somebody here who is (possibly) looking to upgrade to a nicer rig, and could pass along their older full suspension bike at a reasonable price.
I’ve been riding an ancient Gary Fisher from like 1992 for the past eight years, So I’m not super picky about the set up... but I’m 6’0 and 195lbs, so looking at the large side of the frame scale.
Having a dropper post and a nice rear shock would be very sweet, but I wouldn’t be opposed to trying to ride the trails here on a Hardtail either.
Plan to do some research, and would take anyone’s advice kindly. Thanks!

I have a size large 08 Gary Fisher HiFi Pro 29 that I'm getting ready to sell. Not a ton of upgrades but pretty new xt brakes, gravity dropper post, and a sigma computer. It's been well maintained and Push Industries rebuilt the fork and shock 2 years ago. I didn't ride it last year at all because I was on my single speed and commuter only. Not a ton of miles. It's set up tubeless with good rubber still (Specialized ground control).
The caveat that it might be a bit flexy for someone of your size. I'm 165ish and liked it fine. It's more xc oriented than plush but climbs like a billy goat and the bigger wheels make up for less travel than some of the newer bikes. It's much more plush now vs stock since Push worked over the suspension. Right around 29 lbs with pedals.
I'm in Helena if you're ever in the area and want to look at it or I can shoot you some pics first, just shoot me a pm. Thinking $500.

What’s your budget?
I have an older Nomad I would sell you very cheap. It was a really nice bike at the time, but quite outdated now. If you’re looking to spend very little it would be a good buy, but if you can spend more it might be worth it.

No idea on your budget, but EVO is running a really good deal on a Transition Smuggler right now:

That’s a great deal, but sadly out of my range

A week or so ago there were two Yeti SB95s for sale for ~$2000 - one in Whitefish and another in Missoula. I'm not allowed to spend money for a while or I'd consider upgrading.
You could also keep an eye on bikes in Fernie or Calgary. You get the exchange rate discount if you go that route.

I'm in Missoula and I have a 2008 Kona that's not very good and needs work, but it'll literally get you rolling, and with a few upgrades, might even be nice. It has good karma in that it was stolen and I got it back just fine. Still had the "This machine kills hippies" sticker on it.
I keep it as the "guest bike" since it's not worth much, but like I said, it will literally get you rolling. It does technically have suspension front and rear.

Pics requested by SUPERIOR (and there is another local mag interested too) and easier to post here than PM.
Just noticed this a.m. that there is a paint chip on the carbon swingarm which would need addressed IMO with some protective tape, etc. It doesn't look like any underlying damage, just missing paint. The rest of the frame is aluminum.
