Day Drinking
Sober at the moment but a comment in the baseball thread about day games meaning "moar day drinking" got me thinking, thinking about day drinking.
It really is the best kind of drinking ( not while skiing, different topic, not my thing, ski "safe")
One of my favourite parts about soccer matches is Guinness in the Morning or mid day.
Not many amateurs drink during the day, its usually folks who know what their doing ( including a few who are likely all day every day drinkers, but I digress)
Unless you are hammered, people dont take much notice
Drinks often cheaper, plenty of room at the bar.
Day Drinking, good day.

Wife and I both work in the service industry so, when we have a day off we hate being in crowded restaurants/bars at night.
So we go to our favorite place around 1 or 2 in the afternoon and usually start with a bottle of champagne with our apps and salads. Then move into something a little more deliberate with entrees. We stay for an hour or 3. When the old folks start showing up at 5 for their perch dinner and we’ll done steaks we leave.
I love walking out of a place before the sun goes down with a buzz while watching people walk in who have been at work all day looking for a buzz. Makes me feel like my day was better.

I love a good day drink or four, when time allows.

When I worked retail almost never off on Saturday and worked every other Sunday. Days off were usually mid week. Everything's easier to get to, golf courses, all the fun stuff (titty bars LOL). No lines or waiting. It felt almost illegal to be in weekend mode at the bar early for more than a beer or two on a Wednesday morning. Welp it was illegal if driving but as mentioned, fewer cops out looking for it at that time. Never saw a DWI checkpoint on a Wednesday afternoon.
Go that way really REALLY fast. If something gets in your way, TURN!

Try having a home office. Only strict discipline keeps happy hour from starting at noon every day.

unless you go with a large block of friends, bars at midday are fucking depressing. drunks eagerly getting drunk uninterested in the world. a fantastic way to observe people, but fucking depressing. Don't @ me woodsy
day drinking with friends is fun, hell, even booze and a book in teh sunshine is grand.

^^^ barfly is one of those movies that you go on a time capsule ... One of my favorites. Although I always preferred weed, when I lived on the East Coast are used to love going fishing party boats leaving at 7 AM. We used to start drinking beer and Yukon Jack at 5:30 in the morning

Off next 7 days. Have kids at night, so I ride/drink (not always in that order) in the sunlight hours.

There is nothing wrong with an early bloody mary on a mid day hump day after a billing cycle.

Here's the funny part. The OP quoted me. I don't drink much. I might have a single beer every six months. I am that weird person that wishes they liked to drink. I just don't like how it makes me feel which is why I have mostly stopped except for special occasions. I did have my moments in college. However it was too much work to be a total drunk. My days of Guinness for breakfast were few and a long time ago. But I like to talk about it. This also means I am not a good person to be around people in sobriety. I am a wicked enabler. I always have been. I wish I wasn't. And to everyone who is in recovery, if I don't hang around you, it is because I love you and wish you the best. As far as working from home goes, it has never crossed my mind to have a drink on the clock.
