The entire Northwest. It's always wet and slippery and just plain dreary outside. As soon as the sun comes out everything gets blown out with brake bumps and moon dust. Never, ever go there to ride.

Never seen a place so overhyped. The weather is always unpredictable, either pouring rain from a thunderstorm ruining the trails or it's too hot and humid to even ride.

Not to mention the trails aren't even built for bikes, just a bunch of old, eroded hiking trails and logging roads with roots and ruts and no flow. Random rocks placed everywhere with no reason making some sections unrideable.

A lot of the climbs are too steep and technical and you spend half your day hiking.

    Ridiculous anyone would go there.

It's just a bunch of doubletrack jeep roads overrun with tourists.

Can I actually get a decent descent for maybe 30 seconds before I have to pedal up a big rock again?

The town has no good restaurants and the beer is plain shit.

This thread rocks. I think the places I ride are so disappointing and shitty, they don't even make this thread. I win.

Riding in Summit Co is great. Itís weird that they only have those two lifts which start and stop in the same places. But you can pretty much hit all the good trails from them. Definitely not epic like Angel Fire though!

I just got back from Moab after spending a decade only hiking the area. The new trails they have cut are pretty damn good. No, it isnít unlimited descents, and anyone who likes sand has a screw loose, but I retract my earlier pronouncement on this destination. The local community there has built a lot of fun stuff with beautiful and amazing views. Iíll be back in two days for more.

I take it you've never ridden a proper DH bike.

You mean a 29er? I've heard big wheels are fast and just skip over rocks

I really don't care what they're built on, where they're built or what the stupid food in town tastes like, or how pretentious the stupid IPAs at the brewery taste.

^^ That beautifully crafted chart just won the thread. There's nothing better than getting to the top of a big ass climb, taking a break, knowing it's all downhill fun from here.

Or any trail in southwestern bc with a bunch bare granite rock rolls™ that for some reason always need to be climbed. Because they're just so exciting to roll down the other side! Again, and again, and again.

There's a section of the rim trail here in tahoe that's like that. I can't for the life of me understand how anyone likes that shit. It's like a stair master with a bike that just happens to be underneath you. Joined by 3 second descents.

The builder did a great job with what small hills he had to work with, IMO.

It also means that the climbs are very short and almost unnoticeable..

maybe my sarcasm meter is broken but if you all are serious.. my brain just can't register someone rolling into moab.. riding around the hundreds of miles of different types of trail there.. and leaving going "meh."

There are 4 [legal] trails in Moab that I'd call good. The rest are great in an "Oh neat, we're riding on rock. How novel!" kind of way, but they're not trails that I get particularly excited for.
