Ice Creek Lodge - March 2019
10 of us from the Wasatch went to Ice Creek Lodge in the Valhalla's the 2nd week of March to check out some BC goods. The only other time I had been to that area was two years prior when we went to Mt. Carlyle lodge out of Kaslo. Ice Creek flies out of Burton BC, just south of Nakusp.
I'm not sure how to top this trip as we had awesome snow, stability and weather. Everything came together in a perfect blur of 6000+ foot days and awesome, catered food.
Photo heavy and in no particular order:
A couple of snowy 10+ cm days interspersed with
Mostly sunny days
We got to climb peaks
4000 foot runs
Stupid buffer getting full and missing the shot
We drank beer and listened to the more talented members

Russell is da man. Maybe my photo is still in the hut?

Maybe, what's it look like? Russell is da man for sure. He had been guiding a group of older folks on skinny skis, so when he started unloading fat skis for a bunch of dudes from the Wasatch, he was pretty stoked. It was like we were getting the area familiarization tour of his favorite runs. It felt like a little bit of kismet too with our guide situation. We had hit it off with Lee Johnston out of Nelson on our previous trip, so when we were looking to book this trip, we asked all of the lodges if we could bring him in. Most of the lodges that we were interested in wanted to use their guides exclusively, including Ice Creek. But Ice Creek wanted to know out of curiosity who the guide was. When I told them Lee, they were stoked, Lee and Russell had finished their training together years ago and had been wanting to hook up and guide together, and Russell was stoked show off his tenure.
A few more because I took 1700 photos.

I’ve been into that lodge in the summer. Always wanted to know what it looked like around there in the winter. Stunning photos! Thanks for posting.

Small world, Lee was our guide at Valhalla Mountain Touring a couple weeks back. He is immensely qualified, ridiculously easy to get along with and just a trail breaking, powder slaying machine.

Pretty much sums it up. Lee is the man.
