Smith regs don't require a bear fence, it's just one of the options.

I'm stoked for my first Smith trip in a few weeks here - I managed to pull the unicorn Super Permit.

Oh my. Flows are looking very good right now, you may hit the holy grail of good “later” season flows and amazing fishing.

Yeah, I'm stoked! I'm a more experienced rafter than I am fly fisherman, but a couple friends who are quite a bit more accomplished are joining. I was originally interested in the trip as a family-friendly float, but I'm excited about the whole package (float/fishing/scenery/etc.).

FFS. I'm out of cell service for a week and the flows drop like a set of car keys.

159 right now. We launched at 129 in April. Lots of work, but worth it. Fishing was holy fucking shit good. Having 6 days to pull it off helped a lot.

We'll see what flows do, but our game plan was a 16' raft and a family of four, with fairly young kids. So not much in the way of maneuverability or ability to run ultra light.

We launched a 16 at 175 and we’re better off than the smaller boats due to added floatation.

Same. I had my 16, pretty good load. Wasn’t the floatiest, but also wasn’t the stickiest. Running soft tubes helps a lot. Wish I had remembered that on the first day.

Just saw on FB they are preventing anyone from launching below 150? Odd, but there is also a fire up there apparently, and record high heat

Same, did 4/28, 29, may 12, I'm a glutton for punishment on those late april dates. better odds, shittier weather/flows. Not holding my breath as a third trip in as many years (covid2020 withstanding) would be a long shot.

I totally spaced my application. Prob try and snag another cancellation.

Also if any mags pull permits and has room for another boat lemme know. I don't mind getting real high and rowing people into fish.

Our group didn't apply this year because it conflicted with Boblandia. Priorities.

I just called to inquire about cancelled launch dates. The guy on the line says "Just April 3rd". We both start laughing at the same time.
