[Buster Highmen]

These balloon guys that give hot air balloon rides from Woodinville to random spots around Redmond got disbarred from landing in the county parks, so now they land on random private property. Since my in laws were accommodating for a while, they continued to land on their 40+ acres.

But then one day, the balloonists left some gates open and cows got out, so the in laws became less than welcoming. The balloonists tried to bribe my in laws with magnums of Cooks champagne. After that, they're not welcome anymore once I told my in laws that it absolute shitswill. Now I ended up with the stuff. I have to figure out what to do with it.

Diatomaceous earth is organic certified and works great on insects but kills them all-> both target and non-targets.

Only non-chemical way I've found to get the ants under control. I have an invasion of the fuckers, they live in a buried stump I didn't even know was there. I tried excavating the whole thing but it's not a battle I can win. Gave up and dropped the white stuff all over the area once they started taking down my arugula...

back to gardens. my veggies are still quite minuscule since we just started getting consistent summer weather but I planted this little shade perennial garden by the entry walkway last summer and it went off this spring
almost feel like I planted things too close but have divided a couple plants already for my neighbor so that helps


ps going to try some of the ant recs here too bc as you can see from the picture they have invaded this zone

The "Heavy Metal Gardner" down the street is in full effect. He's been having hibachi with his posse in the evenings while they watch the garden grow. Last year's highlight was when he used the end of the garden spade to lift up his SOs summer dress while she was bent over weeding. With cars driving by. My window was rolled up so I couldn't hear what she was yelling. She lit into him. I have to remember to keep the windows down when I roll by. The one thing lacking this year is loud music, of any kind. However he's still rocking the mullet. I know, pics or it didn't happen. I'll see what I can do. Maybe some dash cam is in order.

Ours is blowing up this year. It's a young one, maybe 5 years, and it gave fruit for the first time last season but Ms B pulled off all the baby peaches to let the tree go through another round of growth (not sure about that one but I didn't dare question her). Now she sends me a pic of the fruit clusters on a daily basis and just captions it SEE????
The cherry tree which she planted at the same time gave us 2 or 3 bows of fruit already. I ate a dozen blueberries last night, bit tart still. Saw an anaheim pepper already, about 1/2 size. Mini squashes are everywhere. And I accidentally trimmed off the first tomato-bearing branch when pruning the early girl... Slow start to the season.

I grow some tomatoes and a bunch of chilis. Jalapeños, serranos, garden salsas. Make fresh salsa often, then bottle hot sauce, then dry the rest for powder.

We have those little pods all over; good to see. I’ve seen some little guys on my peppers in the greenhouse, on aphid patrol. Voracious little bastards.
