I can’t believe the economics of this work on any level. This may be the end of big blockbuster movies for a while.

I've concluded that DJSapp was never DJSapp, and Not DJSapp is also not DJSapp, so that means he's telling the truth now and he was lying before.

Good. More time for me to properly prepare. Haha.

Hopefully DV is successful in telling HBO to piss off with the same-day streaming release bs they want to do, and keep it theater release only. I think they're still duking it out over that one. I agree with DV and Legendary that it's total bullcrap because of the timeline. Gotta love all these constant studio acquisitions, mergers and licensing shenanigans.

First reviews are quite favorable. And I consider blade runner 2049 a modern classic. (Arrival is also pretty cool) I think I might head to the cinema next week.

Did you score an invite to a test screening or are you just gonna camp out info front of the theater for a month until Oct. 22nd?

Pretty epic. Villeneuve knows how to create impressive visuals. But since I like all his recent movies I expected nothing less. Good acting...Even by momoa.

Great movie. But why is Paul atreides hitting on spider man's girlfriend

Is this thread going to remain spoiler free? I suppose I should probably just stop looking at it.

It SHOULD be until after the US release weekend. Slated to open on October 22. Then it's fair game after that. DEFINITELY going to go see this one at the theater.

I have read to Heretics and Dune twice, but it was a long time ago. Story got really bizarre along the way.

    OP
[quote] So anyone who has paid attention over the many years of this forum knows I think the Dune Trilogy is the one trilogy to rule them all, all genres. {/quote]
plus some of the later books and his sons books which are ok, but the original trilogy ( shoulda been 2 books really, the first 2 and the 3) I have read repeatedly.

Yeah. I read Dune like 30 years ago. Revisited it only once, but really didn't go beyond that as it kinda goes off the rails in the later books and I just couldn't get into them. But that was pre-teen me, so maybe I'd have more appreciation for it now? I dunno. Either way, I don't feel I need to read the entire series to understand the upcoming film. Hell, I had a pretty decent grasp of the David Lynch version when I was like 5. I used to rent it repeatedly on VHS. Haha. Kid me loved it. Saw it not too long ago, and I don't know if it's the nostalgia-tinted glasses, but I still freaking love it. Dat Toto soundtrack! The cast! (Patrick Stewart and Sting FTMFW!!!) Yeah, it's got its major flaws for sure, but it's still so rad in its own 80s David Lynch way. Fight me.

That all said, I have full faith and confidence in the new director after he treated the Blade Runner IP so beautifully. CAN'T WAIT!!!

Major thread drift/will switch to own thread if needed: another, in some ways even more impactful, classic SF good series is about to hit home streaming (Apple+) - The Foundation (Clark). Starts today, in fact. Less fantastical, more hard SF. Jared Harris as Hari seems perfect. Early reviews are mixed - "the usual failure in compacting a very complex narrative into the visual medium". Audience seems to like it, though.

Stoked for that for sure but lets start its own thread cuz that's a rabbits hole we can all go down ( and Clark(e)? think you mean Asimov.) I need to reread as it has been a while

Doh; yes, Isaac Asimov, whom I definitely rate higher than Herbert. New thread started.
