Not a bad age to go out. Me, I am shooting for 84. Great song ^^^^, but I like this version better: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1hLIXrlpRe8

    An icon of the guitar.
When I found out his father was Lebanese, the sound made perfect sense - just add reverb
    RIP

Oh, he was kicking. Touring until the end. Missed him last fall at Daryl's House in Pawling, was planning for his next one this year.

    Damn, RIP. A great one.

That picture is wrong. He was a leftie on a Strat, just like Hendrix.

Damn, I was planning on seeing him in May. Missed his tour a cou9le years ago due to a scheduling. One of those guitarist who is great on vinyl, but blows you away live. Last saw him many moons ago at the Golden Bear in Huntington Beach.

    Sad day.

I agree it is a constitutional right for Americans to be assholes...its just too bad that so many take the opportunity...

Interesting to learn he grew up with Lebanese music, and it’s not hard to hear the middle eastern influence once you know that

RIP. Talked to him after a show at the Crystal Ballroom about 20 years ago. Super nice guy. Signed autographs for anyone who asked. Had complements for all the ladies. Stayed till the last of his fans left. At the start of the show he looked around and asked if any all of the under 18 and under fans had ear protection, even called a couple teens on stage to double check them, and he sent a crew person around to give ear plugs to those that needed them. He put some over ear protectors on one very little kid. Never seen anything like it. Class act.

From the Daryl's House Facebook memorial post. Yes, he sang a little, too.

But unlike Jimi, he often/usually had a left handed Strat strung upside-down (high E top, low E bottom)
