WTB: 4FRNT Hoji 179
Long shot I know. Sold out online. If you will sell I will buy. Don't make me buy the women's version.

Yeah men's version comes in 179, 187, and 195. I have not skied it but 187 scares me a little esp. paired with a 30m "turn radius." I've not skied a full rocker ski for that matter though and perhaps it is as you say and I should just go for it. They have 2 left at 187....

Definitely ski it first before you buy the 179. The 187 skis super short, it is my go to EC pow tree ski.
The long radius and full rocker allow it to pivot and slash quick turns and changes in direction.
What I find fairly remarkable about it is how relatively damp and stable it is in crud considering those other attributes
I prefer the edges on the duller side. My buddy got a race tune on his set and it was kind of weird to ski imo

Interesting, thanks for your input doods. Thing is, how do I ski it first? Nobody does 4FRNT demos around here that I know of. 4FRNT does offer a 3 use guarantee/return policy but I kinda hate to put holes in their skis and then return em.

That is tough. I usually buy a set of skis on here with some holes I can use, and if I don’t like them then I’ll sell them off. Costs about what a demo costs at a shop in shipping.
4frnt probably travels with demos but surely that ship sailed for this season
Maybe there is a local shop who used to carry their line of skis that has a pair lying around that you can demo?

also suggest going longer. I ski 195 as pow/daily ski in banff (lots of alpine terrain) and I"m 160pounds. Wife skis 187.
we would both go down a size if we skied more trees.

I spent a week Feb skiing around the Banff area and on Rogers pass and was very impressed. I ski a lot of trees here in CO until spring hits. FWIW I am 5' 9" and 145lb.
Might end up pulling the trigger on the 187 after a beer or two tonight.

After much deliberation and hand wringing I went ahead and bought the 187. I used to ski 195 full camber race skis back in the day as an all mountain ski so I should be able to handle this newfangled rocker business no problem right???

agree with the collective and think you made the right choice going with the 187
and yes they do make a 179 non ladies version. that is how I got my hoji fix before the ladies version came out and was cheaper bc of the pink-ness
they are such ninja skis that longer worksskid luxury

long live this thread. And thanks to V-rex. Convinced me to get the 187s instead of the 179s. We will see how it goes - last skis I had that long were 195 olins with tele bindings.

Sent from my iPhone using TGR ForumsI need to go to Utah.
Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?
So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....
Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues
