This is a bad omen. The native americans say when a moose runs through your camp and tramples your shit it is a sign your tribe has lost favor with the gods. Add to the fact there have been avalanches all over the place trying to take out highways. Time to move away from CO I guess.

So apparently there was a fairly sizable slide inbounds on open terrain today at Breckenridge. The mountains up there in Colorado are coming down right now. It's been a crazy season for inbounds slides not to mention deaths such as the Silverton Avalanche school and today or yesterday with the guide death while with clients on Jones Pass. The ten day is looking like it's not gonna let up much either.

Delay opening the road this morning. Apparently still cleaning up the debris from the widowmaker slide.

Road opened by 1015 or so. Crowd was lighter than normal due to the number of people who bailed and went elsewhere. At least at first.

Now, we got another couple storms coming in with wetter snow.

Someone explain to me like Im 5, how, if basically every resort is part of Vail or Ikon, how does that cause over crowding?

Resort season pass access is cheap (epic/icon) and nationwide. Pair that with a good economy and low travel costs and not only do more people ski, but more people travel to ski.

Can't wait to shred wrangler at Abay tomorrow, talkin' straight up hotlappin the black mountain express bell to bell

Plus people can storm chase much easier with these passes as well as having more people with flex schedules and websites like OpenSnow telling everyone whats going to happen 5 days out. This all equates to huge crowds.

Not irrational at all. Loveland will be even more of a shitshow on days the pass is closed. No parking as it is most weekend days. Add in the ABasin pass holders when there are slides and it'll be skied out in 20 minutes with Chet's Wetdream pumping 'em up the hill.
