Great movies you missed the first time around

Super 8 by Mr Spielberg. I don't remember it back in 2011, but found it at the library and it's pretty damn good.
feels like a stephen king story with a $50 Mil budget.
Like Stranger Things from way back.

Bacon tastes good. Pork chops taste goood.

That's a fun one and really enjoyed it. Wish I saw it at the theater, but like you, I totally missed it for some odd reason. My pick for a movie I really enjoyed but missed by a couple years was Pandorum with Dennis Quaid. This one REALLY flew under the radar. It's like they didn't market it all. Now on Netflix so go check it out! The original trailer really doesn't do it much justice either.

I think this recut trailer might be better:

Not Spielberg, JJ Abrams emulating him. The stranger things people should be paying him royalties as it's a total rip off of this movie. It's a good one though and holds up pretty well

yup. Produced by Stevie ( saw him at Universal studios once, people were oblivious) hence the HUDGE budget $$$

I just saw The Incredibles for the first time.
As a 40yo guy with no kids, I have no reason to watch animated movies. Except when friends with kids come to visit.

different kind of movie, but I absolutely loved White Squall. rented it from blockbuster, then watched on HBO for a few years, eventually got the book. Just, loved the story, though the "courtroom" at the end was pretty hokey (as the book observed). Had no sense that it was ever in the theatres.

This is more of a funny story: I'm in a restaurant bar on a quiet Sunday afternoon a couple months back ordering some grub with the wife. The guy down the bar is describing to the bartender a scene in a movie he just finished watching: "so he goes into the bathroom, finds the gun behind the toilet box and comes out blasting!" Neither the bartender nor the story teller had ever seen "The Godfather." Both were about 60 y/o. How in the fuck do you miss "The Godfather"?

Great movie, I own it on DVD with other sailing movies. I should read the book. Ridley Scott nailed it.

like Dead Poet's Society for sailors
