Alyeska would be awesome if it was located on the mountains in the background that don't get rain all winter, not the ones adjacent to sea level. Just my $.02.

You’re not wrong. It is pretty awesome already though. Especially on a good year.

I’m sure. But I’d be far more stoked on flying to Alaska in May or June and lift skiing rather than December or January.

Fishing priorities start to take effect so lifts running that late is a hard sell unfortunately, Seibu used to run them through May but they weren't so concerned with making a profit. Girdwood 2020 wanted to build back in the valley but that never worked out (amazing that we are approaching 2020). Ultimately you can always hike that time of year and have the place to yourself.

First day good. Great conditions. DeathVan found me in line for 6 and took me for a run off north face. He’s a level better than me but very gracious about it.

And I’ll say this: just one run chasing someone better improved me. Wish it happened more often (not that I’m good, just solitary). Better this evening than I was this morning. Hard to complain about that.

    Back at it tomorrow.

Alyeska is the biggest cock tease of all ski resorts in NA and maybe the world . Lots of amazing terrain staring you in the face that almost never get to ski . So much potential ...

And highest season pass ticket price per acre in NA at $1600 for 1600 acres IF north face is open.

I love it, I hate it, I live here so I am stuck with it. I lived in BC for a while there and that 'slack country' you speak of ruined me on this place...

That being said ill be there tomorrow with another 20" reset

If you buy your pass in July it’s only $1200. It’s robbery. But it’s the only game around. Good to see you this morning. Hopefully it comes in colder. That was a hot mess by 230.

I skied the Upper postal slot back in ‘06, is that the name, postal slot?
Man, getting in there was the scariest thing I’ve done on skis.
    North Face is so legit.

I think it is 1600 counting all of NF out to Monies. Yeah if Xmas and the Knuckles are open it's darn good skiing. Quality steep fall line.

But I guess like everywhere it keeps getting more crowded so even on mid week if the snow is good , the hordes are out and the Tram will be 3x car wait
    #getoffmylawn

The classic story of when the European tram company came over to install The Tram they were confused as to why it stopped half way up the mountain. I guess in Europe they try to ski off the tops of mountains?!

Good to ski with you Snowman!
Glad you are psyched to ski this mountain, and i was happy to show you around.
-tomorrow may be Knuckles, but it may be snowing too fucking hard!!

    Today crushed yesterday.
It stayed cold and snow stayed lighter*, and sapped some of the moisture out overnight

    To edit:
I'm not sure most people understand just how steep and real this place can be.
there is no sidecountry at the resort because they don't want to collect your body.
-drive 30 minutes down the road and do whatever you want

I skied the "traverse" out of Xmas two day ago, to Facet, and was fully puckered, one lost edge and you are dropping...
-Shit, the Tusk off New Year's is legitimately in the movies

These storms are fucking killing it !!! and today rocked hardcore, blower faceshots all over!

hope to ski with more of you up here

Going to do Arctic Valley on Sunday, then back here for Tuesday.

Skied the rope line skier’s right of Chucks and everything I could see looked amazing.

Had a bouncy time in the bowl skiers left of GBX — light was flat and I got surprised a few times. Enjoyed lolo’s and bear trap, the trees below banjo. More topography made better vision. However got pretty tired of skiing Jim’s to get back. Hopefully more will be open later in the week.

Wasn't that the original plan Seibu had but was talked out of it?
