    the thread's already here?

If it helps anything I disapprove of it. Although i do think that there's some merit to Riser's position that there is only one forum and it is the PR.

Super Diamond kicks ass. Seen them a few times. They’ll nail a cheesy Neil Diamond song...”Sweet Caroline” etc..and shift gears hard on the outro & throw in that Sabbath sweet leaf riff.
Know of a pair of Fischer Ranger 107Ti 189s (new or used) for sale? PM me.

I hired them for some of their first gigs at a corporate dorkfest I managed. Might have even been their first paid gig. It was really cool to see them make it to Letterman when he had cover band week a few years back

ibid. op cit and all that.

    No love for Dread Zeppelin?

Then there's Zappa Plays Zappa or whatever Dweezil has to call his band now that Ahmet has sued for copyright infringement.

The big construction site down the street from work hired them to play a celebration when they were finished with the big stuff. I was out for a short walk and was like WTF! Walked on to the site and watched them for like 40 minutes. Free barbeque too. That was a kick ass lunch break.

They played the right notes in the right order. But the fact that they have boobs doesn't make up for their total lack of charisma.

Who are they a copy of? Genuinely curious here, I always thought they didn't really sound like anyone else out there.

I got one of their albums because I had to make a choice for one of those music clubs. I ended up listening to it a lot. It was a great concept, and they were a solid band.

I'll add Black Diamond to the list. Amazing Neil Diamond one-man cover band.
Remind me. We'll send him a red cap and a Speedo.

A highlight of my musical career to date was playing at the Mangy Moose on New Years Eve, and Dread Zeppelin opened for us. I got to hang with Tortelvis. It was a legendary evening. 2001 maybe?

I can’t stand them. But I’ve heard a lot of people say Phish are a great cover band. Makes sense they’re good musicians but they write the worst lyrics of any band ever. So if they play other bands songs maybe they don’t suck?

Seriously though... The best current band doing lots of copies is Dirty Loops.. These folks kick ass musically,

    Hard to imagine.

Btw what’s with the term ‘copy’ band? I’ve found the ‘cover band’ terminology used damn near everywhere that speaks English. To the weirdos here using ‘copy’—do you also say supper rather than dinner?

As someone who blew their only chance to see Pink Floyd live back in the day, I really enjoy Aussie Floyd and Brit Floyd. Try to see them every time they come to town.

I thought they were trying to draw a distinction of some sort, like maybe they were talking about "tribute" bands? Not sure.

That's what I assumed too. I'm thinking like Appetite for Destruction (GnR tribute band) or Atomic Punks (Van Halen tribute band), bands that only cover one band and try to look like them, not just bands that do some good covers.

Atomic Punks was better than VH live (at least, until the singer and guitarist left to form Steel Panther, which is also awesome).
