I found them from a mention in the New Yorker. Maria Tambien is a solid jam.

Any Mike Patton fans listen to Polkadot Cadaver? No MP involvement, but similar flair.
Youtubez didn’t have choice I thought gave a good sample, but try Purgatory Dance Party album on streaming choice.

Yeah. Started Thursday night and ends this weekend. If nothing else watch the 34 minute double encore with an 11 minute Baby Im a Star and 20 minute Purple Rain. Insanity.

I don't know how I found Car Seat Headrest recently, but they are great. Maybe Ron Gallo was going to tour with them and I heard it that way? Anything before 2014 is not produced well and not worth listening to, with some exceptions. This song is long and showcases their variety

Pretty witty lyrics for a young guy that looks like McLovin, not on every song though but on some songs. Their new album is more electronic, but they pulled it off decently for an indie rock band. 'Going electronic' as a rock band is usually never good.

Driving past Philly yesterday, hit "seek" on the radio, this came on. Never heard it before but I dig it, it's got a little Shakedown Street goes Brazilian thing going on:

edit: Well I just found out he's been dead for 22 years, bummer. I dig it anyways.

edit: Not sure why I can't quote that right to get the video to show, I've tried to fix it

Sounds good. Can't comment on the lyrics on this first hear, I mostly can't make out what he's saying so far but whatever.

Is this one of the songs where he looks like McLovin?

Tim Mai sounds interesting, trying to figure out what album that is from. Seems like he went disco early.

Maia. Yeah I dunno, but the compilation album I pulled that video from is where I'm starting.

Ah, found that today, thanks. Based on your rec from your son a few pages? back, Khruangbin youtube eventually played (i think this was last year i did this) came up with a Japanese psych rock band, Kikagaku Moyo, a good find:

Goes from mellow plucking to full-out rock at the end.

Will listen. Did you like Khruangbin? I get mesmerized by her hips and that drummer is so on time it's ridiculous. I want to see them live for sure.

I saw kikagaku moyo a few years ago in a pretty tiny venue in Seattle with maybe 30 other people. Watching Japanese longhairs headbang while playing and crowded into a tiny stage was pretty cool. Want to say they had two electric sitars?
I haven't caught them on any of the recent tours, I guess they're playing bigger places so that could be fun.

    Fuck. That was 2016

Time keeps on slipping into the future.

1976 I was in a car with my buds Emmet (we called him E) and Timmmay, (Tim May) and I heard this song for the first time. Mt. Auburn Street, Cambridge Mass. In front of the huge cemetery there. Heading to pre-season practice. Locked in memory. Weird but there it is.

I'm on the right side through most of it. Up front with long hair flying. They were a very good band, all former students from the Berkeley School of Music I believe.

Here's the audio for the entire show (with slide show I guess):
