Affordable summer resorts within 2-3 hours of NYC?

Never know what you'll turn up in the Padded Room, might as well ask and see.

My family is looking to plan a family reunion for summer 2020. We have done big houses a couple of times, but there has been some pushback (mostly the young adults) on having to do all of our own cooking/cleaning, so some want us to consider a "resort" that has meals included. Location needs to be reasonably close to NYC so as not to be too difficult for my parents to travel.

Years ago, we did Mohonk a couple of times, and it was awesome and fits the bill perfectly, except for the "affordable" part, and I'm not sure my parents would foot that kind of bill (and their children are unable to do so!).

We have also done Snow Mountain Ranch in Colorado, but a) the food was abysmal, and b) traveling to elevation is now out of the question for my folks. But it was great otherwise.

We're not looking for Mohonk gourmet, but better than prison food is the bar. Don't need big luxury or lots of activities or amenities, just some basic stuff like a pool or other fun things to do for a few days with the fam. Any ideas?

I don't know where Skytop fits into the Mohonk affordability scale spectrum, but it might otherwise meets your criteria.

Skytop or Woodloch are both worth looking into up in these parts....

Danno, just a potential win-win, have you thought about someplace with some lift served mt. Biking or xc trail action?

I don't think there's anything that fits your criteria within 3 hours of NYC. OBX is 10 hours and you gotta cook, but very relaxing va-k and big houses kept very nice. Corolla section.

If you could widen the window to 4 hrs, Londonderry, VT would be in play.

Probably a little out of budget, and definitely past your travel limit, but I know you and your family's ties to VT:

    May it rest in peace.

IIRC the place was going bankrupt, and the owner killed himself because he couldn't bear to see it go to bk auction.

    Again?

Danno I'm not sure what the costs are like but this place is pretty snazzy https://rwcatskills.com/ It's huge and has stuff going on. Decent riding isn't far and if you're into fishing that's close too.

It makes perfect sense...until you think about it.

I suspect there's logic behind the madness, but I'm too dumb to see it.
