I am unfamiliar with the ins and outs of telluride, but perhaps the remoteness factor limits epic pass visitors enough that vail can afford to pay a high amount per skier as an incentive to get a good mountain on the pass. or, CEO was quoting the highest payment amount from their agreement, without going into the complex details.

I don’t know (and don’t really care) the exact amount of money from an epic visit but I’d venture a guess that it might not have been as lucrative as some more modern deals since basin was the very first to work under the partner mountain plan before they realized eleventy billion gapics would show up. Who knows maybe they renegotiated their plan over the course of the relationship but something made them bail so not attractive enough apparently.

Slopes maintenance guy said in Summit Daily article that they’re going to be replacing Pali next summer. Any insight on this? Would be kind of sad to see a HSQ take the place of the old 2-seater...

Maybe they’ll keep it a fixed grip 2?
Hopefully no more than a fixed grip 3.

Wind makes a fixed grip a good idea right?

In any case my legs need the rest provided by a fixed grip ride on Pali

It'll be a fixed 2, and not increase capacity. They just need something new that they can get parts for.

Good luck. There's 132 of them, and I'd like one as well.

A Poma triple costs almost the same a double, with 50% increase in capacity. Singles lines go much faster.
Just like Deep T, once you get away from top terminal, the increase just doesn’t matter.
Standing in a big line at the bottom, does.

They don't want an increase in capacity. They've said it many times. They might speed it up a little, but not a triple.

Pali is busy enough and gets hammered within 30 mins on a pow day, we don't need to make that 15 mins. Lines aren't that bad usually, especially with the Beavers open. Plus it would really throw off my Enduro stats

If anything they need to upgrade Lenawee to a HSQ, that's a real chokepoint for the mountain.

Still don't get why they eliminated the Norway chair. That was an alternative on busy days to the Lanawee. I guess manpower.

Lifts require parts and maintenance. Old lifts require more. Norway sucked, it relieved Lenawee sometimes, but it sucked. They were also able to trade Norway for the surface lift at the top of Zuma, so the net number of lifts stayed the same, and that matters to the FS for some reason.

in 2017, Al said that Pali would be replaced with a double chair. No triple.

Good call by Al. There aren't many places left where you can yell 'single' in the maze these days.

Pali chair purchase lottery odds will be tough.

They can run a triple as a double, but you can’t run a double as a triple.
Aspen ran Ruthies as a double a couple of years, till they can to their senses.

Costs being equal, it would seem foolish not giving yourselves the option.
