I don't think it's a huge risk. Last season was his best in the majors, but he'd already established himself as a great player and last year doesn't seem like a statistical outlier for him. I see no reason to believe he can't sustain that level of play for the next few seasons.

So, just how rich is Scott Boras, anyway. For God's sake, he's had a nice piece of some big buckets of cash for, what, decades now?

Yeah, and it can't be that tough of a gig. It's not like most of these guys are constantly out searching for endorsement deals. He negotiates their contracts every few years and then sits back and counts his money for the rest of the year.

Sucks Kluber moving on. And they got kibbles n bits, but at least this kid looks like he has something. Truly meant it as a "look on the bright side, it's not a scrub" kinda thing.

Oh I got ya. If they can develop this guy he could be a lethal closer.

Good news is our old pitching coach, Mickey Calloway, that helped develop Bauer, Clevinger and Beiber might be free to work!

I dunno what incriminating photos our GM has of your GM, but this sure was a hell of a trade. I'm looking forward to seeing Kluber on Opening Day with a T on his cap.

OK, Farhan. I'm still trying to keep an open mind towards your analytics geek show. But we need pitching and you let Madbum go for 5 years/85 mil? That's pretty cheap. Did your algorithm not factor in that he's veteran presence who can still pitch? Not happy about losing Pillar either. I sure hope this guy knows what he's doing.

Gonna have to update this to "go get it out of the Pool"

Madbum was a stud but hes trendnig down and wont be worth that contract in 2 years. Plus he performs best in the playoffs and well, do you see the Giants making the playoffs soon?

I’ll take 5/85 of Madbum any day over 5/119 of Wheeler.

I am glad not to be on the hook for either of those two deals.

Hard to believe that the Rangers return was the best Cleveland could do on Kluber also.

He'll be cheaper in the last 2 years of the contract. And while I know the Dbacks won 85 games, I don't really see them truly contending.

Gonna be an interesting few years in the NL west with Giants rebuild and Padres up and coming.
Plus CO has to do something while Blackmon and Arrenado are in their prime yeras, right?
    Right?

Fernando Tatis Jr. was just the first to come out of a LOADED farm system. They didnt sign Machado just to sell tix. They find a reliable #1 starter and this team could be scary in the next few years.

I don't know if "looking" is apt but if he's gonna go they need to get some value and in contrast to the Sox the Doyers have a nice fat juicy farm system all stocked up and ready to go.

I'm gonna drink the koolaid and say that John Henry et. al. are smart as shit and are in it for the wins so if Mookie's gotta go to create payroll space and get good prospects, so be it. Hurts me to say it but buh-bye.

Gimme Mookie, JBJ, X, and Devers (& Brock if not asking too much, which apparently I am), and have at least a WS appearance and I am good.
I fucking hate this new fluid world even if it ain't so new.
