Sale getting chased in the 5th.
Dodgers smacked him around for 5.
Sale's been having a hard time but "smacked around" seems a bit hyperbolic.
edit: the team as a whole has definitely been smacked around tonight though

Dodgers would break HR records too if they got to hit AL East pitching often.
Tomorrow will be fun
See Verlander's 'Juiced Baseball' rant?

While I'd love to blame CR's woe's on it, our pitching has been getting destroyed for so long ... (dropped another 'heartbreaker' 17-9 last night against the REDS!)
So yeah or nay? Would(will?) completely change pitching. But I find it kind of spicy despite my purist tendencies.

Atlantic League player becomes first professional to steal first base days after new rule is introduced
"On Saturday, this proved to be true once again. During the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs' game against the Lancaster Barnstormers in the independent Atlantic League, infielder Tony Thomas became the first player in professional baseball history to steal first base. Thomas was able to do so thanks to a recent experimental playing rule change as an agreement announced MLB and the Atlantic League.
Per the ALPA/MLB press release, the rule states that batters may "steal" first base on any pitch not caught in flight, and that the batter can be thrown out if he attempts to run. Thomas made it to first base without a throw after an 0-1 pitch went to the backstop."
Joe Kelly is finally looking good. If he can be reliable that’ll give a nice boost to the Dodgers.
Gotta love how pissed ARod was that Boston didn’t bunt in the 11th.
Good series and a fun game. Story of the Sox’s season though. Miss a clutch hit then watch the pitching staff give it away
It did seem like they were finding ways not to win that one. May not have made a difference, but JBJ running into the out at 3rd was pretty fucking poor (in scoring position, 1 out in extras?? and he goes on a ball in front of him--not even close). Actually agree with the ESPN crew giving it to him on that one (everyone makes mistakes, but seriously). LA pitching staff coming up with the outs when they really needed them.
LA looks as good or better than last year. Sox are just a mystery to me. Erratic.
I'm not sure if I'd rather still have Joe Kelly in a Sox uniform.

Joe Kelly has been both unhittable and totally fucking terrible this year, so he’d fit right in
-Wife and I were laying on the couch and I yelled "FUCK!" before JBJ even got to third. She was not pleased but understood. And that was WAY ball four to boot. I went to bed after that inning, they just didn't want it.
-I would like to still have Kelly. Always liked the kid.
-And RIP Nuñez. We had some good times, we had some bad times. But overall, glad to know ya.
Man. Nunez gone, Hernandez up, Brazier sent down, Cashner getting a rude welcome, lots of wheels turning.
The Red Sox bullpen is painful to watch
Devers is on fire though.
And I heard he's the best defensive 3rd baseman in the league!?!
[quote][//quote]
No, as much as he's improved (and looks really pretty damn good at times--great arm), I was just needling M. Ice a little. He got a little over-enthused about Devers's defensive progress a little while ago (and admitted the same), but the overall point about Devers is more than well taken. Kid can hit a ton and is definitely not the defensive liability he used to be--for once I was actually able to foresee that the young guy would grow into it (first couple months I saw Pedroia in the majors I just couldn't figure out WTF the Sox were thinking--but did figure they knew what they were doing). I know Devers isn't the best in the league defensively.

11.5 games back on May 31.
4 back on July 17.
I see you Minnesota.
I still call it The Jake.
